The Army Ten Miler was an awesome experience, from start to finish. The race simulates many parts of the Marine Corps Marathon, which makes it an excellent conditioning and practice event for that race.

The Army pulled no punches in merchandise, setup, and overall execution of the event this year despite the shutdown. I was pleased with this event and will likely do it again in the future.

Here’s the basics:
– The Expo the night before the race was stressful. One of the parking lots, which I was directed to park in and this was not clearly marked with signage, was blocked by an evening race for over an hour. This almost caused me to miss my pasta dinner, just barely making it. This was a stressful evening and I do not know why they would block off any of the parking lots the day before a major race where runners are picking up their bibs, etc.

The race itself, once it started, was good. The AirForce had a parachute team fly onto the field next to the start line, and a stratofueler flew over the start line. Overall, a very neat experience.

The race also had a good number of pit stops on it. Finishing on the airfield was also a very unique and cool experience, being medalled by airmen or retired airmen.

The location of the marathon next to the museum is also very cool. Overall a well-run race, outside of the Expo related chaos.

The Saint Louis Marathon race was a good event. The expo at Ballpark Village highlighted the city’s strong baseball culture as well as surrounding states. The course itself was pretty well varied, and you got to run past the arch a couple of times. The course has a number of hills, one of them coming up from the river is pretty steep.

The downside is that you could not track runners in any way on an app. However, the course doubled back on itself a few times making a few ideal spots for participants to cheer on and watch. I’d recommend this marathon!

I PR’d on this course.

This race was a good one for me, and it was generally well supported. It had some challenging up and down hills (the downhill at the end was intense, but it helped with “kicks”).

If you’re in the area, I recommend doing it. The party island at the end is a differentiator for this race!

I really enjoyed this race! It wound through a number of different locations and the course was well marked and run. The medal for this race is giant, and the racers were all friendly and kind. The entertainment beforehand and after was great too, very community driven race!

This race starts at the top of the mountain and is a one-way trip to the finish line – no looping or meandering on this course! I liked that about it. It did have a couple of very gradual uphills, but overall it’s a good course to PR on – which I did.

The app is cool, not only because it tracks runners but because runners can listen to facts about the city as they run through the course which makes the marathon much more engaging. I wish more marathons did this.

This race was well run enough – having a finish line and a start line, with one or two aid stations. Much of the course was through the scenic NASA Goddard property so the scenery was mostly good. However, a lot of it was on paved runs, some stretches on roads with traffic that had not been closed off. Felt a bit dangerous at points. The course decides to through you a massive hill at the very end – the steepest gradient hill I believe I’ve ever experienced on a course.

Personally, I’ll admit, it wasn’t the greatest experience I had for a marathon either so there’s that. I don’t think they run this marathon anymore.

This marathon took the spot as my first ever marathon, and I had a pretty race. The marathon is exceptionally well run, and when I ran it you finished on the football field which was one-of-a-kind. I’ve never experienced that after this marathon.

In terms of difficulty, the marathon was mostly flat, with one hill around mile 21. The race support was awesome, all of Lincoln came out to support it felt like! To top it off, there was an EF-0 and 1 tornado that night to really cap off the midwestern experience.

Would recommend.
