Gorgeous half for my first race! I knew it was hilly going in and trained on hills, but overall I planned to focus on enjoying the experience rather than time. I ran/walked the second big hill about halfway through, as did most runners around me, and the atmosphere was upbeat but laid back. The valley’s scenery made for a good distraction from the tough rolling hills and the weather was humid with a cool breeze. The volunteers were friendly and there was plenty of water and gatorade along the route, even some watermelon towards the last few miles. Parking was easy and the race was well run. Only con for me was that women were given ladies v-neck t-shirts and weren’t allowed to get a mens t-shirt upon asking to switch, swag overall not my fav, but not a big deal. Overall a fantastic weekend!
10/10 would do the half again, despite the never ending hills! Stay in the area and enjoy the small town charm.
