This year’s Wisconsin Marathon will feature all your favorites!
– A beautiful course along the Lake Michigan coastline
– A Big Cheese Medal for marathoners and half marathoners
– A double loop marathon course
– Pacers leading groups from 3:30 to 6:00 for the marathon
– An early start option for marathoners that need a little cushion (10 minutes before main start)
THE courses start and finish right next to Lake Michigan, in front of Kenosha’s Public and Civil War museums. They will loop through downtown and residential areas and you’ll see some beautiful views of the lake. The scenery changes every few miles, so you’ll never not have something to look at!
The course will have volunteers, course marshals, and members of the Kenosha and Pleasant Prairie Police Departments, as well as some directional arrows to help guide runners through the race route. Be sure to pay attention to any course signs, especially where the distances split.
All marathon and half marathon participants will receive our Big Cheese Finisher Medal. All 5K participants will receive a 5K Runner Ribbon. Awards for top three M/F overall runners for each distance will be given at the finish line. Top three overall male and female for each distance will be determined by chip time.

The full was not offered this year due to coming out of Covid. Easy drive from St. Louis. Had a difficult time finding a restaurant in Kenosha for a carb meal. Tiny expo. The race was just average. No complaint but nothing to brag about.

The course followed close to the shoreline of Lake Michigan for a good portion of the race. There was a small portion of the race on a packed gravel trail. The headwind was pretty strong close to mile 12 and just so happened to coincide with the only real elevation gain on the course.
Downtown Kenosha had some nice Victorian home and the outlying residential areas were charming. The finish running towards the lighthouse was very cool.
The effort to produce a live event during the pandemic was appreciated. everyone did a good job of staying socially distanced and adhering to the city’s guidelines.

The course lay out was great – It has you running the first half along the waterway … That said the race had 20-20+ mph wind gusts so when you weren’t facing the head-wind, you were getting sand-blasted by the coast (off Lake Michigan), all none of the course directors fault. So Scenary would’ve been awesome if weather hadn’t made it suck. The other down side was the Medal was a joke. It was of a cartoon cheese guy with a cape. I get it Wisconsin cheese… And I have a great sense of humors, just saying if you want serious bling… Don’t run this one. Finally – Race production/support at water stations and volunteers was EXCELLENT! THis is a great beginner to intermediate runner’s race. What stunk for me was the weather which of course made it memorable and also in a horrible way, one of the best races I’ve completed.

The scenery is beautiful with a jaunt through neat neighborhoods and along Lake Michigan. The roads are a bit rough with pot holes and gravel in the first half. In the second half there are a few gravel roads with large rocks that make things tricky. There are elements of out and back so if you like seeing other runners that is fun. The second half of the course has almost no spectators so prepare for some solo miles. After the half marathoners split off there are very few full marathoners. Medal and shirt are nice. Always a fun theme and great end of race party.
