The Visit Casper Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay, and 10K race events are fast approaching! We’ll kick off the Marathon events this year with a traditional Runners Packet pickup, Expo and that pasta dinner to help get you fueled for your big day. This year also holds new marathon race courses with some exciting new routes and some potentially BIG Finish line memories that we’re sure you’ll enjoy!
The Casper Marathon course is certified as a Boston qualifier. Pacers will be provided for the Full and Half Marathon courses to help you meet your race goal.
The Full & Half Marathon start will be at the Ford Events Center where race participants can keep warm indoors if needed with restroom amenities available. At the Cannon Fire Start the race we’ll proceed along Amoco road and circle 2-3 miles before continuing on a welcome downhill descent reaching the pedestrian bridge off Bryan Stock Trail where the course enters into the North Platte River Parkway trail system.
Runners will travel along the Platte river walkway approx. 1 mile while passing by the Casper Rotary park where you will be directed to enter a Traffic controlled Poplar Street and head south into the Downtown Casper area where Full & Half Marathon racers will then begin east on 1st street and into historic Casper heading west where they will diverge at Collins street heading west towards the beautiful 3 Crowns Golf course and into Paradise Valley. Full marathon runners will then be returning back easterly where all will be direct into downtown Casper with all Finish lines being now at David Street Station where one may be able just catch yourself on the Big Screen.
10K Event participants will begin their new exciting race course with the Starting line right at our Host hotel the “Best Western” in Downtown Casper for convenience and also go easterly at the First street Bridge into Downtown Casper where the cheering awaits within the city as one nears the new David Street station and finish line festivities this year.

Coming from Texas, running 5000 ft+ altitude made it difficult (no surprise). Bulk of the elevation was in the first 9 miles. Scenery is what you would expect from this part of Wyoming. Nice to have the Ford Center for the starting area in case it was cold or rain (had neither in 2025). Plenty of fluid stations and nice finish area with ample snacks and beverages. No real issues with the start / finish logistics. (Why someone chose HOT PINK as the color for the marathon shirt and medal is a mystery). Overall for a 50 Stater, Casper is about as good as gets.

Beautiful scenery, the race starts high at the Ford center with a cool cannon blast to start the race. The views are of never ending rolling hills to start. Then go down along paved trails that weave along and over the Platte river. The first 7-8 miles was through gradual ups and downs. About mile 9 or 10 there is a large down hill slope. Then the rest of the race was virtually flat. The finish line party was great, tons of food, drinks (including beer), music, and a free quick message. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Aid stations, port-o-pottys and encouragement was everywhere. The aid stations had anything you wanted, water, gatorade, gels, oranges, one of them even had ice. The only issue I had with the race was the weather, very hot it was in the mid to high 80’s when I finished. I highly recommend this race.

The organizers and the volunteers were very helpful. I lost my phone when I picked up my bib. When I realized it, I went back to the bib pick up desk. I got it back right way.
The first 1/3 of the route was on street. The rest 2/3 of the route was mainly on bike route in parks.
There were about 10 aid stations along the way. Because there were some back and forth route, we saw a few stations twice.
Casper is a good sized city. People are friendly. It is fun to visit.

The expo event was nit even ready for us participants. No porta-potties at the aid stations. The volunteers lacked enthusiasm.
This was it’s 21st year and they treated it like it was it’s 2nd or 3rd year. Made me sad

This was my 20th state and 30th marathon. Race communication prior to race week was outstanding on social media…packet pickup/expo was in the host hotel (cheap rate) in which I stayed making for an easy process…The expo was pretty good especially for the size of the race…I was recovering from a meniscus tear, but the altitude and a slight cold affected me greatly….nice flat course after the first couple miles…good scenery with a mix of park trails, golf course, residential and city…Running the marathon i found myself by myself alot in the second half as there were only about 100 participants…the aid station were plentiful with everything you need. the course was well marked except mile 22 and 23 were 1/4 mile marked short or so short causing some panic, however the next couple miles were fine and accurate….a good after party with pizza, beer, subs, and plenty of other things to include face painting for my kids and some live music… the medal was nice and other swag included a long sleeve tech shirts as well as some other things…overall a well produced race with easy logistics…not large….also, Casper is a fun little town with some cool restaurants, stores, and some free museums. I took my kids to the Tate Geological (Dinosaur ) museum and the Nation Historical Trails museum, both free. The Casper mountain provides some scenery and trails as well….great race for 50 staters…

This race was very well run smaller community race. There were probably a couple hundred runners combined between the marathon, marathon relay and half marathon.
The start was up on the hill above downtown Casper, which gave some good views as you ran down into the city. The aid stations were full of friendly volunteers and provided the usual water and Gatorade, as well as bug spray (for running by the Platte River). At the finish we received our finisher medal as well as a cooling towel and various after race snacks. The bib also got us discounts on local restaurants/bars after the race.

The Visit Casper Marathon offers a well-organized race experience in Casper, WY. The course presents a challenge with its undulating hills in the initial 6 miles, followed by hilly urban cement trails tracing the Platte River. Exiting the river area, runners traverse through expansive open spaces, battling wind and sun. While the course is generally well-marked, some sections between miles 20 and 24 lack clear signage, though the divergent paths ultimately loop back together. Markers at miles 22 and 23 were misplaced, causing brief concern about course length, yet a long mile 25 brough the course distance back to correct.
Check-in at a downtown hotel was seamless. Morning shuttles weren’t needed as I had a companion who drove to the finish. Staying within walking distance to the start was convenient. The Ford Wyoming Conference Center served as an excellent starting point, boasting ample indoor restroom facilities. Aid stations were generously stocked, even providing sunscreen and bug spray.
Despite its small size, with just 115 marathoners, runners may find themselves isolated for extended periods in the latter half of the race. The introduction of timing chips in 2024 marked a positive upgrade for participants.

This is a smaller marathon, but is well executed. Packet pickup along with a pasta dinner the night before. Race morning has an indoor staging area and easy parking/travel with runners being bussed there. There are pacers ranging from 4-6 hours and they have a generous cut off time (7 hours +). The kept the finish line up and fully stocked food (pizza, sandwiches, chips, cookies) until the very fast runner is done!

Great communication leading up to the race, well marked course with volunteers at the more major areas to help point you on your way. Not a lot of crowd support if you need that, but very supportive volunteers at the aid stations. A little bit of hills during the first 5ish miles, then on the bike trail for mostly flat the rest of the way. Altitude could be an issue if not used to that, but it didn’t seem to feel too bad. Great post race food and celebration. Neat age group awards and nice 1/4 zip/medal too.

The race started at the Ford Event Center, so we could stay inside out of the wind and elements before the start. The first part of the course consisted of a loop of about 4 miles that had a couple of moderate hills. It then went downhill to the town at which the rest of the course was relatively flat except for one small hill. Most of the course is at an elevation of about 5100 feet, which didn’t bother this slow runner much. I’m guessing that about 2/3 of the full marathon course is on concrete paths along the North Platte River. That was the most scenic part of the course, and I saw White Pelicans, Gulls, an Egret, and Canada Geese along the river. I would say the course would. be easy for someone used to the altitude. Course markings consisted of arrows painted on the pavement and the only signs were for the mile markers and lists of sponsors. At a couple of places, it would have helped to have signs at the turns. At one point, I was almost misdirected by a volunteer when the half marathon course split off from the full marathon course. Fortunately, I questioned the direction and he pointed me in the right direction. If I hadn’t been paying attention, I could have followed the half marathon runners. The swag was good, and they were giving away leftover shirts from previous years. The shirt for this year was a one-quarter zip long-sleeved technical shirt. The medal was nicely designed and mentioned that this was the 20th anniversary race. I also scored two different-sized zippered duffle bag with the race logo on it for a total of $25 to replace my worn out one. There was a pasta feed at the packet pickup for $15, and Chuck Engel, the Marathon Junkie, did an inspirational talk to all who were present. A coupon for a free beer was also given at the packet pickup, and there was a free beer, lunch, and a live band at the finish. All in all, it was a very good value for the registration fee that was charged.

by a river. We started at an arena which was a great area to stage the start because there were nice bathrooms and we were inside. The start of the race had a cannon that was startling if you weren’t prepared for it. The elevation was about 5,000 feet.
At the finish there was a selection of pizza, sandwiches and Mich Ultra. I got a long sleeve tech shirt, a buff and a medal.
The day (or two) before the race a local brewery had a short run around their property. The brewery was the location for a very small expo. The beer was good and I got a pint glass for participating in the beer run.

Almost no spectators but plenty of water stops manned by nice competent people. Metal was nice shirt was long sleeve funny color but good quality. Lots of stuff at the finish line to eat and drink. And there were many pacers if you wanted one.

The people involved with this race couldn’t have been nicer. They really look out for the runners. There is a nice pasta dinner (same location as the bib pick-up) the night before the race. There is an after party in the afternoon / early evening after the race is over. The finish line had plenty of food, water, and beer regardless of when you finished (which, as a back of the packer, I greatly appreciated – as that is not always the case).
That said – this was probably my least favorite marathon of the 43 that I’ve found so far. The reasons were outside the race coordinators control – the combination of high altitude and high temperatures completely did me in and I was pretty miserable the back half of the race. It was my worst finishing time that didn’t involved slippery ice (Antarctica) or photos with characters (Disney).
I recommend staying at the host hotel. It wasn’t great, but everything is there (expo, pasta dinner, shuttle to start, finish line, and after party). I didn’t find too much to do in Casper, but the people I encountered were all nice.

Casper is a small marathon, about 200 runners. Excellent course and finish support, tech shirt. Course is not too difficult but does have some hills – and it can be hot and/or windy. Most of the course is along a city bike path that follows the North Platte River. Tons of post race food and drink options – even for slower folks. There is a 1/2 marathon option.

There was great course support, especially for such a small space. The post-race food was a wide selection and great quality. The shirt from this race is still one of my favorites to wear! Great race!
