The beginning of the course is different from past years and is an improvement. The first mile still has the killer hill, but lovely trail along stream and oaks before you get to it. It is a challenging course with some steep ups and downs. Make sure your shoes have good tread. The wild flowers and views were spectacular. I am a walker.

This is a some what challenging race but I do wish more people would join because it trully is so much fun. Mic & music are awesome and the general sense of everyone is super friendly and just happy to be there. This is my second time running this race and I will be coming back.

This was the best race besides the punch in the face with the first hill. I had no training and was able to get this race done in three hours for the half marathon. The weather was perfect and the people were very nice. Everything was put together great instructions were very clear.
Amazing, Scenic, Awesome, and Challengin

Valencia didn’t come to play. This course was tough—relentless climbs, technical sections, and just enough heat to keep you honest. It’s the kind of race that tests you mentally just as much as physically.
But where it hurts, it also delivers. The production was on point—well-marked trails, organized aid stations, and a smooth race-day experience from start to finish. You can tell a lot of care went into making this event run right.
And let’s talk about the swag 🔥—easily some of the best I’ve seen. The kind of gear you actually want to wear and keep as a reminder of what you pushed through out there.
Not an easy course by any means… but definitely a rewarding one. Valencia will humble you—and that’s exactly why it’s worth it.

Killer hills is right. You get about half a k to warm up and then it gets really steep for about a kilometer and a half. It’s beautiful and lush with greenery and wildflowers the whole way though. Overall, there is a small amount of fire road and mostly single-track and MTB trails that are good for running. The pacing after the first big hill is good, there’s another big-ish hill at kilometer 8. The organizers and event staff are amazing. The aid station folks are there to cheer you on even if you don’t need water or snacks. Great event.

4. Well marked course with mix of single track, fire road, and mix of gullets and hill tops
5. Excellent map and photo stage at the end
Cons:
1. Swag patch for repeat runners (of the same distance) without telling us the exception in race communication. Not a big deal but kind of deceptive
2. It’d be a real slippery mess to run in the rain for the real steep downhill near the end and at steep drops at some portions of the race. But good weather!
3. Medic on site? It’d be real dangerous if someone got hurt along the course. It looks real hard to get someone back to the start. Be real careful.

Only issue was that at the start race there was very little restrooms. Overall experience was amazing.

The only issue we had with the race is that there should not have bikers on the same trail as us. There was an incident with a couple people I know for sure one girl got hurt, and two of the gentlemen on the bikes were not very gentleman like they were quite rude. Other than that it was a great time.

This was a fantastic race put together by a lot of selfless individuals. The course was incredibly challenging, especially getting over being sick. But there was no way I was going to miss this. The hills were relentless and punishing. I loved every minute of it. The aid stations were well stocked, and the individuals at each one helped to make this experience even more memorable. They were fun and helpful. As they restocked my waters, we cracked jokes and had a great time. One aid station helped rejuvenate me with pizza, pickles, and Coke. I am thankful to have been a part of this race this year. Be sure to prepare for punishing hills if you want to do well. The second half has more elevation change than the first. Pace accordingly.

My 5th year as a walker! Super well organized event. The trail is well marked and easy to follow. The same hill at the beginning and end of the race is steep challenge in both directions. Lots of ups and downs in between to keep things interesting. The Viking medal looks great on the wall and there is Viking props at the finish line for a great picture.
