I love this race because it is a race for runners hosted by runners to raise money for scholarships in the community. They always have great SWAG, the finish line party has fantastic food, and the course is beautiful (even though the full marathon can get lonely after the half marathoners split off.) It rained this year (which the race directors have no control over), so a lot of the usual neighborhood spectators did not come out but, luckily, we got a hat or visor as one of our pieces of SWAG, so a lot of people were wearing them.
It’s a very flat race – almost like running down-hill the whole time – with the exception of a tiny 20-ft long bridge within the first half mile.
The race director is very accommodating to his runners: he allows transfers up until the expo and, this year, because of the rain, he allowed runners to exchange bibs for medals at the expo and run it virtually or switch from the full to the half on race day.
The volunteers on the course are always helpful and they keep the stations well-stocked. Extra “props” for hanging out in the soggy conditions this year.
I mentioned that the SWAG is always good. I don’t remember what we got the first year but in:
    • 2016 we got a nice, plush beach towel.
    • 2017 we got a nice YETI-style cup
    • 2018 we got a super-soft, fluffy sherpa blanket for the 5-year anniversary
    • this year, we got a lot of things:
    ▪a hat or visor
    ▪a heavy-duty bottle opener
    ▪a nice, insulated lunch bag
    ▪obviously, our finisher medals
▪a nice shirt. They always have nice “wear out-and-about” shirts. I hardly ever wear any of my tech-style race shirts, but I wear my Celebration ones a lot.
As long as they have this race, I will run it.

It's funny you mention the RD can't control the weather — I like to joke that Disney, with its seemingly year-round perfect weather, has a climate-controlled dome around its campus to keep out bad weather. So Celebration must fall just outside the Disney dome 😜. It sounds like ToC really takes care of its runners, and I appreciate your recalling each year's swag as evidence of that. Congrats on another marathon finish, and thanks for another thoughtful review!

TOC is one of the best run races I’ve ever participated in. Despite the rain and cold, everything was ready for the runners, volunteers were awesome, and aid stations were fully staffed and stocked. Yes, the rain was a challenge. But the rush when I finished in such adverse conditions was awesome.

I entered the Celebration Half Marathon not quite knowing what to expect. This race exceeded even my most optimistic scenario despite rainy, cold weather throughout the entire event. The course winds through the quaint neighborhoods and nature trails in this small planned community near Disney World, and it’s absolutely beautiful. Three sections run on boardwalks nestled in the woods, providing a nice break from street running. Despite only being around 6 years, the race organization is top notch! Great volunteers, excellent swag (medal, cooler, tech shirt, bag, hat/visor!), and fantastic post-race food & drink. I highly recommend this race!

This is a great local race. I have ran this race many times. It is affordable and a lot of fun. I love seeing my running friends there. There are enough people who race this one, but not so many that is it overwhelming. The volunteer are awesome. Some parts of the course are a little lonely. I have done the full a couple of times and there is a lot less people for the back of the packers, but I didn’t really mind it. The after party is cool with food and music.

I loved running on the boardwalks. Nice and small, but not too small of a race. The rain…well…that’ s what rain ponchos are for:) Loved this race and hope to come back and do it again in 2020!

The volunteers were amazing, I was so impressed that the kids were sticking it out and cheering us on in the rain for so many hours! The course even in the rain was beautiful… I loved every moment of it. The swag was fantastic, the only thing I would change is I wish that the shirts were sweat wicking material so I would have a new running shirt to train in for next years race! I also wish they allowed deferrals to next years race because I was injured two weeks out and couldn’t get a refund. I’m glad I was able to make the race though even though I was hurt and took a bit longer than I had hoped! It was one of the happiest days of my life, I will always remember the Town Of Celebration Marathon!

Celebration is always a great low key race. They have the best swag. Something different every year. It’s a great place to spend the day when you pick up your packet. The course is easy. There are a lot of turns so unless you run tangents you will get extra miles. The weather was awful this year. I expected the organization to be low on volunteers. If they were it didn’t show. Many of the volunteers were young kids and they took great care of us. I never saw them on their phones. The post race party is the best. The local restaurants do a wonderful job for us. I can’t wait to run it again next year.

This race is one of my favorites and I intend to run it annually… or as often as life events allow me to. I travel from a few counties over to participate and, even with this year’s weather, it is one of the best races I run. It’s exceptionally organized and you cannot beat the swag and after party. Anyone running that “mouse marathon” weeks prior instead of this one is missing out! Well done!
