SPACEROCK: the final trail running frontier.
These are the voyages of trail runners around the world.
Your mission: to explore strange new trails, to seek out new life and new experiences, to boldly run where no one has run before.
Experience running the exotic trails and sights of the world-famous Vasquez Rocks Natural Park in Southern California. Known as the backdrop from popular TV shows and movies including Star Trek, The Flintstones, Battlestar Galactica, Planet of the Apes, and many classic western films. Now get a spectacular experience running the trails at the SPACEROCK Trail Race!
Vasquez Rocks feature unique rock formations, canyons, and terrain that feels like you are running on an alien planet. The trails provide a variety of technical terrain from packed dirt, sandy creek beds, rocks, and boulders as you traverse the course.
The 5K & 10K loop takes runners around the trails inside Vasquez Rocks with some moderate climbing and single-track trails. Ideal for first-timers, hikers, and those looking to elevate their trail running experience.
The 15K course provides a more intermediate to advanced runner challenge with a huge mountain climb, more single-track trails trails on PCT, and the black hole tunnel.
The Half Marathon+ course is considered one of the toughest in California with over 3200 feet of elevation gain & descent, and the total distance coming in just under 14 miles. A course that many trail runners consider an Ultra Half.

This was my first ever trail race and the hospitality, energy, and high tier quality of the race blew me away! Personally, this feels like such a milestone, and I’m now convinced to pursue more races, with the intention of winning them! Yes, the scenery is absolutely gorgeous, and yes, the race is well organized, but what I got out of it was a confirmation that I can do anything!
Beautiful, well organized trail run!

Only gripe we have (son did the half) is the parking fee on top of the entry fee… Not an inexpensive entry fee! Other than that, what an amazing experience!! Will definitely do it again! Great volunteers (thank you!); well-marked trail (my bad for the couple of times I went off course!); excellent customer service!

Kicked off on a high note with a gorgeous view of the rocks during sunrise. Registration was smooth, the course was well-marked, and the run itself was a ton of fun. I’m new to running so I don’t have a lot of prior experience to compare this against, but this is such an easy recommend. The bags they gave out to everyone were a nice touch. Made stashing everything during the race super easy.
The course itself was hard but so much fun. Bombable, technical downhills, nevernding ups, varied scenery and terrain, and one really really lovely section of super runnable single track just off the main hill climb.
Had a fantastic time doing the 15K and already looking forward to coming back for the half next year.

Last year I was unable to run this race due to the rescheduling so I ran it this year as a part of my marathon training block. It was much tougher than I expected. Parts of this course are so steep they will slow even the fastest runners to a hike. The tunnel is dark enough it’s worth carrying a light for, or keeping your phone handy, it’s just too hard to be sure of your footing without it. My favorite section was the start of the last 3rd of the race where it joins with the 15K course. Lots of fast flowing single track. If I had it to do over again I’d do the 15K instead. But if brutal climbs and death defying downhill sprints are your jam, you’re going to love the “half” (My watch recorded 14 miles even).
My only recommendation/complaint would be to A) Move the start time forward to 7am (sun was up by this time) and B) Start on time. We didn’t get moving until 7:48am which meant the last hour of the race was spent in some pretty brutal heat.

I have done this trail before and ended up completing the race in 6h07m. this year, I completed it in 5h23m. it is a pretty difficult course with some parts lonelier than others. there are 6 stations and Station #4 was AWESOME. food, snacks, drinks, positive attitude, special shout out to Station 4 for the confidence boost. We completed the race as a group and we all are looking forward to signing up again.

It was a well-marked, double-loop course over some wonderful parts of the PCT and Vasquez Rocks area in LA. Great vibes with the volunteers. It didn’t have obscene levels of switchbacks and there were plenty of aid stations. The swag consisted of a tech shirt, a well-designed metal medal (so many trail runs have wooden ones), and a sports bag with some spacerock logos. There was even hot pizza at the finish and bottled drinks in ice buckets! Even for a short walk they provided a shuttle from the parking lot to race zone. There were snack boxes and drop bag areas for everyone. The 360 degree views of the local mountain ranges after the first long climb was amazing, too!
The only thing I would recommend for improvements is for the aid stations and run zone to have a first aid tent or at least, some kits at the aid stations just in case some runners trip and have the need for a clean up or band aid after a fall. There are many rocky areas and some parts have some narrow single track that might lead to an accident.
All in all, a much better race experience than the UTMB one at Big Bear.
Definitely do hill training on rocky terrain and single track as there are steep uphill and quad busting downhills.

This was my very first race (ever ever!) I had never run before, but I signed up because my hubby did the half a couple of years ago, and the vibe around the place was awesome and infectious!
I had some training under my belt, but as of today my butt and legs fell me I should have been more prepared for hills 🤣
But overall? It was so much fun. Throughout the hills I texted my husband to tell him “you know 8 hate you, right?” and then ended the race thinking “oh good God never EVER again!” but by the end of the day, I decided that as much as I (still) hate running, it brought me an awesome high that leaves me thinking that I’m likely going to do this (or at least another one!) next year.

What an amazing experience! The Space Rock race was absolutely beautiful — tons of single track and challenging hills that kept things exciting from start to finish. The course was really well marked, and the crew did a fantastic job organizing everything. Everyone out there — runners, volunteers, and staff — had such positive energy and supportive vibes. Trail running truly brings out the best in people, and this race reminded me why I love it so much. Can’t wait to come back next year! 🚀🏃♂️🌄

I’ve been to a few New Global Adventures trail races and they never disappoint. I like that I know exactly what to expect on race day (location, parking, timing, course maps). The volunteers are great, the atmosphere is super supportive and the courses are well-marked, challenging and fun. The finish area is packed with snacks and drinks (plenty to go around) and the medals are unique and memorable. I’m already registered for future events and look forward to attending this one again, as well!

kudos to all the volunteers who were showing up hours before the crack of dawn to get everything going! excellent and consistent communication via email regarding race (including date changes due to the heat wave). I loved the views on the 10k, though it is two loops of the 5k (which can feel more harrowing after the first loop, atleast for me). literally all of the 10k starters got lost at the very beginning, trail was probably well marked but we didn’t think to look for ribbons at the very beginning. the start/end being well marked might have helped. Highly recommend downloading the gpx to your watch if you can as it does at least tell you when you’re off track!
