Everyone that was working the aid stations were very courteous and the supplies were very good. I loved every minute there. Definitely will try and make it again next year.

I only did the 5k due to time constraints for me to have to leave. The 5k was an amazing course, very challenging to run! Likely the best 5k course i’ve ever run. Swag was unbeatable, lots of fun pre/post race. Great website for information, updates, and registration. This is a must do event for me in the future!
Three suggestions for them to make going into future years; need more shuttles since parking is off site outside of the park. Race photos were all low res, try another event photographer. Would love to see age division awards for all races,

I mentioned in my review last year that that about one third of this 10k race requires runners to pass each other on a narrow track. Most of the runners are very good natured about this, giving the elite runners berth so they can make time. . .but this year, as last year, had a few grumpy grouchies. If it is going to ruin your day to step aside for someone else then this is NOT the race for you.
By far the majority of people are there to HAVE FUN. If you have never done trail racing this is the perfect entry race. It’s challenging, in a stunningly beautiful location with great support. 2018 was slightly overcast which was better weather for running than the heat of 2017. The volunteers are not above dressing up in the theme of SpaceRock. The shirt and swag is loads of fun. My non-runner friends always ask where I got my shirt. So cute! (No one ever covets my race shirts from other races, just saying.)
The course is challenging to be sure. If you don’t train for it, you might find yourself having to walk some of the uphills. Go anyway. It will inspire you to train better for next year, lol. Either way, you gonna be so proud of yourself in all your aching awareness.
Parking is limited so try to carpool.

PS Last year I was running right before my Cancer surgery. Spent most of 2018 trying to readjust to my new normal. Had to take a good 4 months off running due to side effects of my medication. This year I started training 6 weeks before SpaceRock, and made a new personal best!

The views were amazing. But the hills are not easy, but worth it! The Aid stations were fully stocked even though I am always like a mid- end packer type of runner, I have to give a shout out to the incredible Volunteers I never saw them tired from cheering, giving high fives or giving out the food. The only thing I saw was that the actual sponsors ran out of product very soon.

I would recommend this race, awesome medal, fun shirt. I love the course but it’s hard and hilly. The phrase on the shirt has horrible grammar, they need a good proof reader. The graphics are great. They need a women’s version though. I was swimming in a size small.

This was one of the best Saturday mornings in a long time. It was my sons first 5k and my first trail race. We had such a good time. Absolutely beautiful trail race. It was well organized and planned. You can tell the organizer really cares about the runners experience. Everything from parking/shuttle, swag, free coffee and bagels etc. Also the free race photos are great. Can’t wait to bring the entire family next year. This race will definitely be on my yearly calendar from now on. I’m also planning on signing up for their Valencia Trail Race.

I came in last and won the prize. I was a curve behind two runners and made a left turn when I should have made a right turn. I had less than a mile to go and wound up doing almost 17. It was my fault for not paying attention. I would definitely do this race again, At one point you are going uphill and can look at the top of the mountain and see the fast runners going along the top of the mountain with their Silhouettes against the sky, This race is one to do every year,

I can definitely empathize with taking a wrong turn or two (or three) during a race — congrats on conquering the inaugural SPACEROCK ultra, Roy! ;) Four miles extra is quite a bit of bonus mileage. That said, glad you enjoyed the race and that you're already looking forward to next year. And thanks for sharing your experience!

I like the race and the course. It’s a moderate trail run. It’s unforgivable, though, for them to run out of shirts AND bags even after registering for this months in advance! I wrote to the company after the race as instructed, and they responded saying the shirts were on back order, but they are unsure if we’ll be able to get bags. It’s an expensive run, and part of that surely goes to the nice bags and shirts. This can’t happen, and yet it did. Last year, they ran out of volunteer shirts, so my friend didn’t get one of those. Seems to be a thing with them, so just know that it’s a possibility with this race.

So sorry we ran out of the swag. The backorder of shirts is arriving this month, once we get them in hand we will send them out to everyone that listed they did not get one. We will work on getting our projections better. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

I ran the 5K last year, while sick – ugh – and the 5K the inaugural year, and at my age i don’t set any land speed records. In 2004, I shattered an ankle and was told I would never run again. I believed them because I looked like Quasi Modo and scared small kids when I tried.I joined a bible study group at our church called “Run For God” without THINKING – and that was in 2015. That July, I finished my first ever 5K race! Not last! A few months later, I STUPIDLY signed up for the Wild Wild West Lone Pine Trial run – 10 miles….. YIKES! I finished, with my daughter along, and though it kicked my butt, I LOVED every second of it! Well, then came the Indian Wells Man Vs Horse and then the Inaugural Spacerock run – and I am now hooked. I am running and I found the 10K this year to be SO AWESOME and I finished feeling better than the 5K! Now, I send photos from the runs to my surgeon. 🙂 The Spacerock run is challenging – technical but safe, and with a few butt kicking uphills – but there is no other run like it – so far! We will be back, and my 79 year old husband plans to run the 5K in 2019 as I run the 10K.Don’t miss this run – spectacular views, great staff, superbly planned – and oh so FUN! BTW, I just turned 61 in Sept!

It’s easy to kind of phone this race in if you’re only doing the 5K or 10K, but if you’re a novice trail runner, don’t expect an easy transition up from the shorter distance to the half-marathon — that back half is monstrous! In a good way, of course, especially if you’re the kind of trail runner who gets off on a little bit of pain for bragging rights. Count on a slow trudge up three massive hills (with the ensuing downhills and views to provide some salve), but if you’re prepared, (which I wasn’t, really), you’ll be fine. I’ve run enough long trail races that I depended on muscle memory to power me through, but next time, I’ll respect the course.

Everything about this race was fantastic and look forward to racing it again. However, I wish the event organizers had awards for age groups (like a few of my other races and I would glad pay a higher entry fee to cover it) and a 10k trail that was an actual loop instead of doubling back part of the way. Doubling back created treacherous conditions from opposing racers.

I would definitely recommend this race to my friends. We had about 20 members of the Foothill Flyers Running Club participate this year it is a must do team event. The aid stations are wonderful, the volunteers arguably even better. At the finish line, there are home made chocolate chip cookies and homemade eggrolls! The shirts are awesome and outer space themed. The metals are large and creatively done. The course winds through the beautiful state park and makes you feel like you’re on the set for Star Trek movie. The course has quite a bit of singletrack trail, so you need to be polite and Jim to the runners on their way back. My one suggestion would be that the race director give some directions on course etiquette to newer trail runners before the race. The runners were friendly and encouraging. What a wonderful vibe.
    I had a wonderful time..
