My very first half marathon and achieved my goal of finishing in 2 hours (especially it was raining). It is one of the events hosted by Capstone and I was registered with their BibPass.
The course is over all flat but be prepared that there are a few hills on the course.

The majority of this race was on the American Tobacco Trail, all of which was paved. There was tons of parking as the start/finish was in the parking lot of an auto dealership.
Swag included a tech t-shirt and Christmas tree shaped medal that doubles as an ornament.

there is nothing that prevents people from cheating on this race as there are no time stamps throughout the whole thing. We watched someone skip both loops and then try … MORE
there is nothing that prevents people from cheating on this race as there are no time stamps throughout the whole thing. We watched someone skip both loops and then try to finish in front of us. this is a hilly race with a cheap race director who is known for cutting corners in his planning. So it is not a surprise to me that there were not enough time stamps to actually catch people cheating in this race. I just don’t get why people cheat.

Packet pick went smoothly and there is plenty of parking on race day. It was very cold but there was a festive atmosphere. Course was well-marked and easy to follow. Plenty going on afterwards. Not personal best but beat my time from last year. Won first in age-group.

I placed in my age group and thought the medal & prize were awesome! However, I did wish that all 5k/10k runners got something other than a shirt.
I would definitely do this race again but probably run the half marathon distance from now on.

I'd highly recommend this race to folks who like rolling hills. It's a different route than the majority of races that run through Durham, so it's nice to see some … MORE
I’d highly recommend this race to folks who like rolling hills. It’s a different route than the majority of races that run through Durham, so it’s nice to see some less-traveled parts of the city. There’s ample parking, cool t-shirts and medals, and awesome post-race food (catered! not just bananas!) and beer. You even get the chance to win money just for participating! I will definitely run this next year.
