  • Race that's calling my name:
  • I run because:

I started running as an extension of walking. Then it became a stress reliever. I ran my first 5K in Dec 2015. Now I’m hooked. I came in first in my age category. Not bad for a first race!!

First in-person race since COVID. Was the last in-person before COVID. Ran my PR which I wasn’t expecting since I wasn’t able to race for 2 years. Love running on the American Tobacco Trail. Wish the after-race was better. There is more going on after the Half and Full Marathon the next day. Will run this race again.

I have always run the 5K. This was the first 10K that I ran. Loved it and so of course this is my personal best. Thought it was a good time for the first time. Won my age group! The American Tobacco Trail is scenic and relatively flat. Plenty of after-race things going on…food and booths.

The only improvement I would like to see would be that they added a 10K. But I love running this 5K. The course is scenic through the neighborhoods, across a bridge and into downtown. The cheering fans give you a boost of energy. The finisher medals are worth running for. I’ve placed in my age group each year and love the place medals also. The post race events are by far some of the best I’ve seen.

Weather was perfect this year. Won first in my age group. Finisher medals were special because of the 10th Anniversary of the race. It never gets old running in Pittsburgh. MORE

Great race to run.! Course is relatively flat, wonderful supporters along the race course, terrific pre- and post-race events. Some rain and wind but it was just a minor inconvenience. MORE

Unfortunately this race was cancelled due to Hurricane Matthew hitting the coast of North Carolina. We love Topsail Island so we will try again next year. MORE

Was excited to run this race because we’re originally from the Pittsburgh area. The race was almost 15 minutes late starting because all the roads weren’t closed down. Loved running across the bridge and finishing in downtown Pittsburgh. We got finisher medals, but I was disappointed they didn’t give out divisional awards on site. (They will be sent.) I finished first in my age group. The after-race activities were ok. I heard locals say the 5K did not get much pre-race hype. Would run this race again.
