The GMS Queen City Marathon has grown from its humble beginnings, in 2001, to become the largest road race in Saskatchewan today. With three days of races and over 6,500 participants this has truly become a must attend event for runners and walkers alike. The GMS Queen City Marathon includes a race for every pace with a marathon, half marathon, 10K, two 5Ks and a kid’s mini marathon spread throughout the second weekend in September.
The GMS Queen City Marathon is an Athletics Canada certified course and can be used as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. Our course takes runners through some of the most scenic parts of Regina including many areas of Wascana Park, downtown Regina and some of Regina’s older neighbourhoods. The course takes place on a combination of asphalt roadways and pathways.

This race keeps getting better every year! The course winds a lot on narrow bike paths with two way traffic, so although it’s flat, it’s not one of the fastest. Organizers and volunteers are really friendly and very motivated to show the best of their city. Free photos post race! Flawless organization.

First time visiting Saskatchewan. Very well organized event. Ran through the best of the city and probably 70% was park area. Well supported. Small expo but all vendors had their goods on sale which was great. Best after race spread I think I’ve encountered thus far, allowing runners to have Coke/Spite and chocolate milk and a couple non-alcoholic beers plus lots of food. Race photos were free. If you have a hope of qualifying for Boston this flat course is an excellent choice. Went into this nursing an injury so it was all about just finishing. Intervals were my strategy and it worked. 2nd goal was not to get further injured. 3rd goal was to not be slower than my worst time. Managed all 3.
