This is a small production race with a lot of local fast runners – I’m not fast so was very much at the back of the pack. Money raised goes towards a local youth group which can change each year. The same group come out as volunteers to man the water/gatorade stations.
You can pay an extra $15 at registration for a long sleeve tech T-shirt. This was definitely worth it – one of the nicer race shirts I’ve had to date.
The medal is a 13.1 mile generic finisher medal with a tag on the back with the race info. Nothing fancy but it does the job. If you want big bling then this isn’t the race.
This is an out and back course. You go one way a little over 3 miles before you turn around and run back 7 miles (you pass the finish line at roughly half way) before turning round again for the run to the finish line.
There are mileage markers which are accurate and the course is clearly signed.
There is coffee and snacks before the race and chicken tenders and mac’n’cheese afterwards.
Overall a great race, well managed by the RD and team.
Great course for a PR!

They didn’t have chip timing (which I don’t mind), but it still seemed accurate compared with my Garmin time.
Packet pick up was the morning of the race 7-9am. Race start at 9. I liked the later start because of the warmer temps!
I didn’t stay in town, but there were plenty of cheap, off-season rates right on the ocean.
The packet pick up area was in the Brunswick. Family can wait and have drinks while you run! Usually this is in March, so it is very cold, but the day it was postponed to was low 60s and sunny! We enjoyed drinks on the deck outside after.
I would definitely do this again! If I would have been more prepared I could have had a great PR!
No Frills race experience!

The good things about this race- Nice location, good pre and post race snacks. Nice post race food! The cost was extremely reasonable. The negatives of this race- if you are in it for the swag DON’T SIGN UP for this race! The medal was a generic 13.1 with a sticker on the back with the race name and date. If you want a shirt you have to pay extra for it. This was nothing exciting about this race! There was no arch or music to get you pumped up at the start. We just lined up in the street and they blew it horn.
