Mainly Marathons Heartland Series (Iowa) You’ve seen them out on the course. They rarely win, but you always see them out there running, and running and running. And sometimes walking. These events were inspired by and designed for them, and for those who just want to run long and run … MORE

1st timer and course was a COMPLETE JOKE! What they call a Half Marathon was down and back 6 times! So-called swag was a cheap thin lightweight medal with what couldn’t have been anymore generic! Compare that to our medal from DC! To think I paid $150+ times 2 for this substandard event is upsetting! The 2 race directors (All In The Family) are making a killing off these events because you sure don’t see a return on investment! Never again! Save your $$$ and stick with the Rock & Roll Series where you truly pay less and get what you pay for!

Race specific: The course for the half was a 1.1 mile out and back on sidewalk/greenway along the Mississippi River, repeated 6 times. There wasn’t a whole lot of shade. We stayed at a hotel across the river in Illinois, which was less than 10 minute drive to the start.

Mainly Marathons: Awesome people. Amazing runners. Distances offered: 5k, 10k, 50k, half marathon, full marathon. No time limit. Medals shaped like the state. All the medals from the series can connect together. Extra medal if you run every state of the series. The series are great ways to get races in multiple states in short amounts of time, covering all 50 states in a year.

I now have completed 184 marathons and 54 halves. The 12 day series was hard for me because of injury and stomach issues. To say the least I survived the 12. My original plan was 12 full but the end result was 8 x 26 and 4 x 13. That is still a lot of races. This was my 3rd Running Ragged this year which gives me a Triple Crown. 3 belt buckles in a shadow box.
