A great event that follows the water front for the most part and returns through the city. It’s a great route with just the right amount of hills along the way. The entire event is put together rather well in my opinion and relaxing in the park afterward is a must.

Super well organised race! Beautiful course along the waterside of Helsinki with start and finish at Finlandia Hall which is a 5-10 minutes walk from main station. The course contains several slight uphill parts. Drinks (water and iso) and are being offered along the course every 2-3km. At km 11 or 12 even gels were offered. Nice finish area with photo wall! Every runner gets a nice medal, alcohol fee beer and a drinking bottle by sponsor BORG! All in all a perfect half marathon!

On the 6 k waterstation it ran out before I got there. There were a several people (We counted 11) that were lying on the ground seemingly from heat strike.
In a country were running at 25+ C is not the norm the organizers should inform their volunteers about running in heat. And should have put in some sprinklers to help people cool down.
The views are great though!

It was sunny again and it´s always fun to run in Helsinki if the sun is shining. You get your bib number at the shopping mall Forum which is very easy. Every runner gets a T-Shirt with no sponsors on – I love it! The course is beautiful with some uphill parts. In the finish area runners get many different things for free: water, iso-drinks, gels etc. I even got a nice hat!

Finally Helsinki has its half marathon in downtown. Start is at Finlandia Hall and the course takes the runners all around the city. Most of the course goes along the seaside which makes the course just marvelous. It´s flat except of one short uphill part at km 17 or so.
