This race is on your bucket list, I know it is. If it’s not, well, you just haven’t seen the photos. Just an amazing race from start to finish. Well organized with a nice long sleeved running shirt.

Packet pickup was easy and organized. Well staffed.

Race day shuttle was great with plenty of volunteers to help.

The race was amazing. Windy, and hilly but amazing. I was really expecting this course to be beautiful but it is really hard to describe how beautiful.

I also must say I have never seen a race with so many happy and enthusiastic volunteers. This race will not disappoint you.

So this is a small race so don’t expect the big crazy expo and screaming fans at every turn. The course was around the Arkansas River and mostly on paved bike/run trails that are open to the public.

This race is very basic with a rather, uh, ugly shirt. Packet pickup was the morning of the race and there was plenty of parking.

The course had some hills but nothing drastic. But it was somewhat humid when I ran and that hurt me in the end.

I had a snag on the course where it was not well marked and went off course for almost 3/4 of a mile. That didn’t make me to happy. Some other runners joined me so I had company.

I was looking forward to a beer at the end and they had a beer tent. They asked for iD. I’m a middle aged man with grey hair and I don’t typically run 26 miles with my drivers license. Had to have my wife text a photo of it. The beer was warm. Yup. Figures.

I would not go out of my way to do this race again but I wanted to visit Tulsa for the Bob Dylan museum and that was the highlight of my weekend.

This race is a really scenic race in Knoxville. You run through the major sites in town as well and by the river. The packet pickup was easy and the expo was large. The water stops were all manned by very enthusiastic volunteers. The course was marked well. The beer at the end was nice, but one of the frustrating things was they gave you a wristband and a ticket that you had to use for the beer. Not easy keeping that ticket safe for 26.2 miles.

The marathon shirt was painfully ugly, that got donated before I even got home, but it was nice that they give all finishers a hat.

I would recommend this race.

Wow. Coming from Philadelphia and visiting Myrtle Beach. I decided to do this race. What a great race and whomever designed that medal, wow! I’m not usually wowed by swag but this medal is special. Shirt is awesome too. Race is well organized with clear instructions and free nearby parking. I did not have my best day because as a northerner I was not ready for the humidity and it ate me up. But this race is pancake flat and really good. If you aren’t sure, just do it. Trust me.

I really wanted to love this race. I really did. The sweatshirt and hat they provided were fun and the whole vibe of the race was neat. However, the race was a half marathon. The course measured way off. I mean, WAY off! My Garmin came in at 12.57 miles. I asked four other participants and they all echoed the same issue. Nobody had anything near 13.1 miles. Very heartbreaking to run a “half marathon” but not really. I spoke with several folks that ran the 5k associated with this race and that course measured long. It is very clear the attention to detail is missing and I would not recommend this race at all. To top it off, my results were nowhere to be found in the official results. I emailed, called, and contacted via facebook, but no response. So not only was the course short, my results are gone too.

I understand that mistakes happen. The issue is that you cannot contact the race director, and if you do they do not respond back at all.

I know, you are reading this and thinking…well..I may run this race anyway. Well, go ahead, but be prepared for a hole in your heart when you finish the race but still feel cheated.

This race is amazing. Start was kinda cold, but the organizers had a warm tent for participants. I traveled from the east coast for this race and was amazed at how great the course was and how much I enjoyed the race. Make sure you bring hydration because there are no cups on the course.
