I think this was my third time to run this event but it has been a few years since the last time.
    Still a great family event.
Swag is a t-shirt and a ticket to the zoo.
Parking/traffic is a small issue. Suggest getting there early.
Course is a mix of a few small hills and turns while running through the neighborhood and about 3/4 mile near the end is through the zoo. Some animals are out and viewable as you make your way.
One water stop on course and at the finish.
    No finisher medal.
There are a few sponsor tents set up with some freebies and a food tent with water, bananas and snack bars.
Zoo staff also brought out some zoo residents for a keeper chat session.
Medals were handed out for top three in each age bracket.
Overall a good event and great for families.
Tip, if you plan to run fast, go all the way to the front as with most non corral events, there are lots of slower participants that start in the front. They said there were 8,000 at the event.

This year was the 20th Anniversary for the FW Zoo Run. Because of that, I believe, the attendance was up. A lot of runners and walkers. A lot of children who did not watch where they were headed, often stopping in the lane. I would have enjoyed running through more of the zoo. Race was well done, overall.

I ran this race untimed with my daughter and we had a great time! There were a lot of people there and overall it was a well put on race. Complaint s would be that the water station was at almost the 2 mile mark and if you were running competitively, you were mixed in with everyone. I went to the back to get out of their way but not everyone did this. They should have had a separate section for timed runners to start . I liked that they had a lane for the kids to run in. When you got in the zoo, the zoo staff were super supportive and a few of the animals made an appearance for you too!! Overall, I think it was a good race and perfect weather for it!!

Not any consideration for timed runners to start first. Too many walkers who did not know enough to move to the right. There should be a corral for timed runners giving them a head start before the walkers, kids and strollers get on the course.

Great event overall. It was super smooth, easy to park, and easy to navigate. Their website is terrible and honestly I wasn’t expecting much from the race due to their disorganized and hard to use website, but I was pleasantly surprised. The actual event was great.

Always a great family 5K run.
Swag – cotton t-shirt and a free ticket to the zoo.
Parking is an issue, lots fill quickly and many park in the neighborhood streets.
Start/Finish/Pre/Post race is outside the Zoo.
pre-race animals to see, pre race warm up.
Course- hilly course run through the local nighborhoods but only one part near the end runs through the zoo.
i have run it several times but 2013 was the most recent so the course may of been adjusted.
Finish – no finisher medals (but i never expect them in 10K or less distances).
Lots of post race refreshments are available if you are among the first half to finish, after that they may be gone, mostly taken by family members waiting for runners, but this is not specific to this race.
    Overall a great family run.
