This is the last race of the Evergreen trail-running season, and we will go out with a bang! There are lots of distance options to choose from – something for everyone: 5-mile, half-marathon, full marathon or 50K. Grand Ridge Park is an incredible setting to finish off this year. Since … MORE

The Grand Ridge Trail run was an absolute gem from start to finish. Set in a stunning natural landscape, the King County Parks trail was super well maintained and up and downhill sections offered quite the challenge. The event was flawlessly organized, with everything from packet pickup to post-race refreshments running smoothly. The supportive and lively community made it even more special, with fellow participants and volunteers cheering each other on every step of the way. This is one race that I’d recommend to anyone looking for a memorable, well-rounded trail running event!

Plenty of ups and downs spaced across the course with twists and turns. It’s basically an out and back through the forest. Well-stocked aid stations and plenty of other runners, but spaced out enough that you see people, but don’t get caught up in a pack unless you want to be.

The slopes weren’t too challenging for a novice to run up, but you should definitely put in more practice for this. Beware of pebble-filled rock roads when running downhill; I nearly fell twice but was saved by my shoes. After the initial downhill, there was a significant step that required walking most of the time if you hadn’t trained. (I wish I had, lol) Also, be very careful with the sign, don’t go the wrong way and do the loop again. (There were 20 people who chose the incorrect path.)

Overall, it was a good time and a relaxed race. The course wasn’t too narrow and the people were friendly. However, you should still be careful with your speed when going downhill because there are ridges almost everywhere.

That was my 3rd time at this event. The fact that Evergreen Trail Runs puts on 5 races that day and pulls them all of graciously is testimony to their organizational skills. Thank you, Team Evergreen! The fact that I personally had an “off day” has nothing to do with the quality of the event. Wonderful volunteers, great aid stations, hot food at the finish line, non-profit support – they do it all!

This is my third race with Evergreen trails and Grand Ridge did not disappoint. The trail was beautiful and the weather was great. As always packet pick up was easy and coffee was readily available pre race. This is a great course for working on vert as well! Will definitely look for this one again in the future.

The trail community is a beautiful one. The Evergreen Trails squad puts on a great race. Well organized, helpful, kind and inclusive. The volunteers and staff are happy and positive. The race was dry , sunny and cold. The trails were well marked and aids stations just at the right places. A great trail run for someone with some experience or a lot of experience. There is VERT, there are many rocks and roots to navigate. Some really cool bridges (low) to run over and some gentle areas. We even had a Black Tailed Buck cross in front of us on the trail! How cool is that!!?? (That’s not a usually thing that happens on trails in Western WA, maybe near Mt. Rainier but not the I 90 corridor. It’s a close race to get to and there was plenty of parking with parking help from volunteers. Lots of food and snacks and chili were available after the run. For the “medal”, you receive a really cool wooden engrave magnet! This one I received was a Bear. Last one was a Douglas squirrel from Lords Hill early this spring. Creative, kind, embracing of the community , I love Evergreen Trails and their counter part Orca Racing (for roads) Check out one of their races. You won’t be sorry. You’ll leave with a smile.

Lots of distance options to choose from
Not much for scenery unless you have never run in the PNW before.
Trail was open to mountain bikers, and I was almost run off the trail at one point
Trail was in fabulous condition and one of the better single track trail races I have done.
Great way to spend a Saturday morning, thanks Evergreen!

From start to finish this was a really well-done race. The volunteers and staff were great, the trail was amazingly marked (and just beautiful), all the runners were lovely cheering each other on as we moved through the out-and-back parts of the route, and there was hot soup and alcohol-free beer at the end! Score!! I traveled some way to do this one, and I will happily do so again next year.

Well-produced race with good aid stations and excellent volunteers. The course is never too steep to run, but the climbing really adds up and takes its toll over the miles. The trail was super fun to run on, even though it was rock hard on an icy-cold morning. Scenery is great if you like running through Northwest forest; no views. Other runners and I were sure the course was significantly long, as this was my fastest-feeling but slowest ever “50k.”
