I enjoyed this race, it was well organized and the route is good for beginners. You can park in the Bay St. Mall or IKEA and then take the free shuttle that will take you to the race starting point. The shuttles were simple to find and dropped us off plenty of time before the race. For the 5K you will go along the trail, across an overpass through Aquatic Park, down Shellmound Street and finish inside of the Bay Street Mall. Nice and simple. I also loved the 510k shirt design and medal design for this year, I think it’s perfect for the East Bay. I think next year I will do the 10K course since apparently it has more scenic views of the bay instead of the 5K route. I enjoyed this race though and definitely want to do it again next year (along with the other Run the Bay races).

I really enjoyed this race. It was well-run and the course was beautiful — it was a cloudy day (as usual), but there were still a couple nice views of SF and the bridges. There were a lot of turns and forking paths near the route, but volunteers and good signage to keep us on course.
I took a lyft there, and I did have to do some walking to find the start line; I’m not sure how the shuttles were. The bag check was very efficient and super helpful, though, and they had no problem finding my stuff after. In a point-to-point race like this, it’s especially nice that they took it to the finish for us!
The festivities after at Bay Street were fun, and I look forward to signing up next year!

This was the third race in Represent Running’s “Run the Bay Challenge” which includes 3 races around the bay area. I ran the 5K last year, and this year I ran the 10K. The 10K course is definitely nicer as it heads out to the bay for part of the run so the views are nice. The course is flat for the most part. Race was well organized, the shirt and medal were nice. There was an extra medal for completing the challenge.

Second time running the 5k. Both the 5k and 10k are point to point races. They start at the Tom Bates Regional Sports Complex on Frontage Road in Berkeley and finishing at Bay Street Mall in Emeryville. The race is flat with the only “hill” being the incline on the overpass ramp. The 5k runs by Eastshore State Park and through Aquatic Park. It continues on Bay Street to Shellmound Street to the Mall. There is one water station for the 5k with happy volunteers handing out the water.
Runners are shuttled to the start on buses. The fee is included in the race entry. I arrive early and have had no trouble with getting bused to the start. Parking is ample with 500 free spaces at IKEA and mall parking for a small fee. This year I parked at IKEA. It was a short walk and definitely worth it to save the mall parking fee.
At the finish, you get your medal and you are handed a lunch bag filled with post race snacks.
This race is also the third in the Run the Bay Series. The other two races are the San Jose 408k and Across the Bay 12k & 415k. If you run all three, you get a Run the Bay Challenge Medal. I did it in 2016 and it was very nice.
This race also supports Running for a Better Oakland. (RBO) (www.rboakland.org) is a not-for-profit organization that encourages K–12th grade students in Oakland and the surrounding cities to develop healthy lifestyles through running. RBO strives to give students the values for achievement and hard work that they can draw on for all areas of their lives.

I’m training for a 10k that I’m doing in a couple of weeks and haven’t run in a race environment for a couple of years. I wanted to ease into racing again by doing this 5k close to home. My husband also did the 5k (but walked because he’s had back surgery). After all the races he’s attended with me over the years, this was the first he’d ever participated in. I got a PR, but didn’t medal (didn’t expect it) – husband walked the 5k and came in 3rd for his age group! Later in the day, he said now he understands how people get hooked on running races! Now he only wants me to sign up for races that have a 5k that he can race too!
Aid stations: I saw one aid station on the route with water. I believe the 10k had a few more water stations, but for a 5k the one station was fine for me.
Swag: nice medal-people who had done the two prior races (that are part of this 3 part series) received the connector medal pieces along with this medal that connected the 3 together. Nice tech shirt (super soft!)
Nice straight-forward route, not hilly. Nice volunteer support. Only issue was at the end – because of the way the race ends and essentially runners were led through a chute out to the expo part after the finish line, it didn’t encourage runners who’d already finished to stay close to the finish and cheer the next finishing runners. I stayed in the “chute” so I could cheer on the next finishers, but it would have been fun to have more people waiting at the end to cheer people as they crossed the finish line.

This race is the third in the “Run the Bay Challenge” If you ran the San Jose 408k and the Across the Bay 12k and 415k, you scored an extra medal celebrating your accomplishment which I did.
This race was formally know as the “Let’s Go 510”. It is now the East Bay 510k and solely produced by Represent Racing and has a brand new course, too. I thoroughly enjoyed this race. I ran the 5k. It started near Gilman Avenue in Berkeley on the frontage road. We headed on the frontage road to the San Francisco Bay Trail. There were nice views of the Bay and San Francisco. The course took us over the freeway on the walking/bike path. It then followed the SF Bay Trail through the Aquatic Park in Berkeley. After exiting the park, we traveled onto Bay Street, Shellmound and then finished at the Bay St Mall in Emeryville. There was one water station near the 2 mile marker. All roads were closed for the runners. The course was very scenic and completely flat except for the rise to the freeway over crossing. The course was well marked and had miler markers. It was nice to finish on the street in the center of the Bay St Mall. We received bottled water, our medal, and a goody back filled with fruit and a couple of food bars. It was a good bag of items. There were some vendor booths that were handing out full size samples of their products.
All runners received a gender specific tech tee that was designed by the artist Oaklandish.
I thoroughly enjoyed this race. I would run it again.

Neutral – Nice enough course, terrain was not the greatest but views were nice.
– Bib was only received the day before the event. Despite $10 fee still have to collect shirts before the race.
– Post Run food was not at all like most Brazen. Maybe because Represent Running was involved? Or down to the fact we went for food a little late but all there was were Lara Bars, Banana’s, Oranges, Chips and a very long wait for It’s It Ice Cream. No Bagels, Donuts, Cake.. or Carbs of any kind like usual.
Running a 10k the day after Ragnar (200 mile relay) I sometimes question my sanity…

As a joint Represent Running/Brazen Racing event, this race features very nice medals and shirts. The 2015 event had a Warriors-ish theme, and since the Warriors don’t have their own race (yet), it was nice to complete my Bay Area sports teams medals collection with this one. The course has one hill at the beginning and revisited at the end but is otherwise mostly flat. It’s along the bay, so the views are nice. Unlike some runners, I was disappointed they eliminated getting to finish on the actual horse track, though they did have the starting gates set up at the start-finish line for photo ops.

Let's Go 510

This is a really cool race. It brings out a ton of runners. There were just over 1,000 10k runners, and just under 800 for the 5k. All racers started at the same time. This is a Brazen/Represent Running race, so you know the production was flawless. This year there were two small changes. 1). We started at 7 am. This was really great because it was a). cooler b). able to get you out before the Berkeley traffic backed up. (I even stayed 2 hours after the race and traffic was fine). 2). The course started and finished at the same spot and that was not on the horse track (This race is ran at Golden Gate Fields.). Last year the last little bit (like just a couple hundred feet) finished on the horse track.
There were other really cool things this year too. Magdalena Boulet (2015 Western States 100 Winner) kicked us off with a cool pep talk! That was awesome! She is a running hero to many. She also stuck around all morning and tons of people got to meet and visit with her. Come on, how cool is that? Also, our very own awesome Brazen running friend Ernestine sang the National Anthem to start the race.
Then, to top it off… After the race, they had Silent Disco. If you have no idea what this is, just google it. It is so much fun!!
Lastly, this was the series’ final run for the I Run the Bay series. Runners who ran all three get a really super cool extra medal.
I think this is the coolest short distance race in the Bay.

This used to be a co-directed race with Brazen, so the swag and production was amazing. Lots of people do this very popular race. It’s no longer on Brazen’s calendar, but it is still an awesome race.

Brazen gets the horse starting gates out that you can get in and take photos with which is really fun. This course had one big hill and then you finish the last bit of the race on the squishy stuff that the horses run on which is a very weird (but cool) feeling. Brazen put on there usual great post run feast. I did this as part of the I Run the Bay series.

I ran this race in its inaugural year (2013). I’ve run many Brazen events in the past and they are always well organized and managed, and Let’s Go was no exception. For me, though, the course was a big downside (the same giant hill at the beginning and end, lots of chewed up pavement, a gravel stretch, & finishing on the horse track). It was billed as sort of a not-really-a-road-race, not-really-a-trail-race, but for me, that left it in this unfortunate no-man’s-land in terms of enjoyability. Brazen has tons of great races & I’m sure I’ll continue to run many of them, but I probably won’t run this particular one again unless the course were drastically changed. Just wasn’t my particular thing.
