This race was a lot of fun! I was originally signed up for the 10K, but some generally poor health and weird injuries meant I wanted to switch to the 5K, which was luckily no trouble!

I believe the 5K course was changed somewhat last minute because of some flooding on the original course after the rainy year we’ve had. It was generally flat and pretty fast and went out and back along the Arroyo Trail in Livermore. The scenery was very pretty, with streams and vineyards along the majority of the course. There were two slightly treacherous bridges that shook when running across them, but it was nice not to have any streets to cross. The main treacherous thing, I guess, was runners and bikers (including one child who I think belonged to a runner) who I think were just following their normal routine.

There were no medals, but there were stickers/car decals of some kind, and the shirts are very nice. Otherwise, swag was generally lacking, but at this point, I have plenty of random pens and stuff, so I didn’t miss it much. I would totally do this race again, and I hope next year I will be able to do the 10K!

This race was postponed due to the fires in November 2018. I was running for the second time, and I again found it to be a pretty well-run race that’s a fun social event for people with more ties to the Livermore community than I happen to have. I was really sick this time and have been on and off for a few months, so my training regimen isn’t what it has been and I was sniffling and coughing the whole way through. Still, I was able to jog most of it and I made it through better than I thought I would — so not too bad of a first race for 2019!

I really enjoyed this race. It was well-run and the course was beautiful — it was a cloudy day (as usual), but there were still a couple nice views of SF and the bridges. There were a lot of turns and forking paths near the route, but volunteers and good signage to keep us on course.

I took a lyft there, and I did have to do some walking to find the start line; I’m not sure how the shuttles were. The bag check was very efficient and super helpful, though, and they had no problem finding my stuff after. In a point-to-point race like this, it’s especially nice that they took it to the finish for us!

The festivities after at Bay Street were fun, and I look forward to signing up next year!

I had a fun time doing this race–it was nice to have something in Oakland that wasn’t around Lake Merritt (which is a bit long for a 5K). The course was relatively flat and fast. There were some cars to contend with, I think because there was some miscommunication and the course wasn’t properly secured when the first runners were let through.

I had never done an afternoon race — I thought I’d prefer it because I do tend to be an afternoon/evening runner, but it was a hot day! I rolled my ankle, too, so it wasn’t my fastest race, but the post-race party was a lot of fun and I’d definitely consider doing it next year!

I LOVED this race. It was my second 10K, and I did PR (by a few seconds, but still). It was a nice, flat out-and-back on a paved path along the water. The views from Bay Farm Island are incredible — we could downtown Oakland, SF, and the Bay Bridge pretty much the entire way. I think this was the first year they held a 10K, and it was very well-organized and fun. Check in was easy and the post-race festivities were fun. The only downside, I suppose, was that they ran out of shirts in smaller sizes, but I have PLENTY of other race shirts, so it honestly barely mattered. I would 100% do this race again. I think it would be a great first 10K for those who are thinking about trying out the distance!

This was my fifth 5K, and I had a great time running it! The course was out-and-back and pretty flat. There was quite a bit of congestion at the starting line, and it took a good quarter-mile to get out of the crush of people — I think waves might have been helpful for this.

Otherwise, I had an easy time getting my packet, and the booths after the race were great! Finishers got a wine glass (in addition to the typical medal & t-shirt) and there was a selection of wineries & breweries offering up beer & wine to finishers. Overall, I would definitely do it again (especially since I have family pretty much on the course, which makes it a breeze for me transportation-wise)!

This was my first 10K and I had a great time! It was a very chilly but sunny day, and the scenery along the course (a mix of paved & unpaved trails) was very beautiful. It was a pretty hilly out-and-back course that, according to the organizers (but not my Fitbit) was a bit short. It was a small and friendly race, and there seemed to be plenty of parking for those driving in.

This race was a lot of fun, but I found it REALLY hard — Berkeley is a pretty hilly place, so it isn’t surprising that there are some hills, but there was a really steep one around mile 2 that was not easy (and as someone who runs in Berkeley often, there are DEFINITELY ways to not have to run such steep hills!). It seemed very well organized; I had no trouble getting my packet, checking my bag, etc., and the swag after was great — there were a lot of booths and a free beer included with registration. However, the “beer garden” area was VERY crowded and it took quite a while to get to the front of the line.

This race was very smooth and a lot of fun, and definitely a family affair for many. It was really scenic and bib pickup morning-of was very easy. I wasn’t the typical demographic of the race — I was the first (of only three) women 20-29 to finish at a time of almost 32 minutes.

It seemed to be more of a social event for some of the older kids (early teens and on) who were there, and on a few occasions, groups were walking across the whole path, and there were perhaps more of those start-and-stop runners (as opposed to those who go at a steady pace) than most. This might’ve been exacerbated by slightly narrower paths in certain parts. That being said, it’s a fun community race and I plan on doing it again!

This was my second 5K, and I had a really good time! It goes through East Cambridge starting at the Galleria; my friends and I didn’t have trouble parking on the street, and packet pickup was easy. start of the race went smoothly, perhaps in large part because there were pace estimates along the corral at the starting line.

The course was comfortably hard — most of the start was gradually uphill, then downhill toward the end. There were a lot of booths post-race and it seemed like a fun place to hang out for a while (but my friends and I opted to bounce for some brunch)! I would definitely do it again if I still lived in Massachusetts.

This was my first 5K, and I’ve done it again a few times, so it mustn’t have been too bad! It was a very festive race and we were lucky with the weather the year I did it. Lots of people were dressed up — including a group of people with drums — which might’ve been difficult for anyone actively trying to PR, but which was funny for me as a first-time racer just trying to finish!

The post-race parties take place at a variety of bars in the area (some quite a distance away), and I did not attend one, but the variety seems like it could be somewhat welcome!
