This race is not that difficult. The most difficult “hill” is the overpass.

Even though I was really slow (because I cramped up at mile 4 and did a lot of walking), I did not have problems with the aid stations (like some of the other reviewers reported.

i think there should have been more volunteers, as it was difficult at some points to figure out which way to go.

This course is not very difficult, but is more difficult than the Davis Turkey Trot and the Davis Lucky Run in that there are more short climbs (going down and up the underpasses) and that you may be running for quite some time in the dark.

I believe this is the first year that they started the 10K at 8:15 pm instead of 7 pm, which made the heat much more bearable. However, this meant that it would be dark for much of the race; I fell down somewhere around mile 4, and waited about 5 minutes before resuming while the police officer on duty called in the accident. (It was a lousy run anyway — I think my blood sugar crashed because I ate too many sugary food samples right before the race…)

Overall, I really liked it, but I need to be more careful running in the dark next year…

Rediculous to be exactly 1 mile short when we ran in circles in city parks, it was 91 degrees at the start and the water stations had HOT water , just one had ice water and not enough volunteers so u had to pour it yourself into cups. After 845 we are running in the dark and a guy fell down and got hurt. Don’t do this race, not safe

That is REALLY disappointing! I did Change of Pace's Turkey Trot in 2016 and it was done pretty well. It's not like anyone who's spent a summer in the Davis area won't know summer will be HOT, so warm/hot water and under-staffed?! With Davis, Woodland, Pioneer, and Woodland Christian High Schools (= athletics programs) all within 10 or 20 miles? LESS

Don’t kid yourself. It’s going to be hot out there. Even if “cooler” years, it’s hot. I had a lot of fun thouch. It was challenging and I think that’s why I liked it. There were enough water stations but I had to drink like 2 cups at each station to keep hydrated. The course was also a little confusing because there were so many turns. I liked it though and I would do it again. (Just adding that the little weather thing says the high for 2017 was 89 degrees? That’s crap. It was close to 100 degrees at the start. The announcer even said so, I remember because it made me more nervous)

I guess the past two years I’ve run this there were record low temps in Davis. NOT THIS YEAR. It was nearly 100 degrees when we started and by mile 4 I started getting dizzy and chills. I had to walk a lot of the course, but finished. But I was disappointed because one of the water stops started closing up early and believe me, we NEEDED them. They also ran out of shirts and the medals seemed less quality this year. Still a great course, but I was disappointed after my last couple of years loving this race.

This is one of the nicest races I have ever run. The course is lovely, the people are wonderful! It does get a little spooky near the end when it gets dark, so if you’re a slower runner (like me) bright a light because the trail gets bumpy at times.

This was my 2nd half marathon & my first nighttime race. It was definitely different racing on a warm summer evening, but it was nice as it got dark & cooled down somewhat. It was an enjoyable event that I hope to do again in the future, and the glow-in-the-dark shirts are super fun! My only complaint was that the final mile of the half was on a rocky gravel road with no lighting… I feel that the route could be reworked so that this part would be done during the daylight, and the final miles would be better off being flat paved road, if possible. I realize headlamps could help with this – but it’s a minor annoyance to wear a headlamp for a couple hours ahead of time, to only need it in the last 20-30min. Overall, though, it’s a fun event that I liked a lot.

A Change of Pace puts on great races with great bling and nice t-shirts. Davis courses are a bit boring but nice and flat. Starting a race at 7 pm is not optimal for me. I prefer the early races but this race was great. Only complaint, and it is consistent with their races especially when there is a 5K involved, is the line for age group awards and extra medals.

Repeat runner for this race, did the 10K in 2011 and 2012, 5K in 2013. Since it’s a July race, even with the evening start it can get pretty hot weatherwise. The 10K finishes just before dark, so only the half marathoners have to actually run at night. Tech shirts and medals glow in the dark which is neat.
