The biggest and wildest running party of the year kicks off this September at the Copenhagen Marathon Half. This is not just a race. It’s an experience of a lifetime.
It’s hard not to get goosebumps as you wait for the Copenhagen Half Marathon to kick off. When the race starts, you’ll be launched directly into the biggest running party of the year in the streets of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg.
And it’s not just the runners who are looking forward to the start of the Copenhagen Half Marathon. The spectators are too, and you’re unlikely to find a more enthusiastic crowd anywhere in the world than the ones you’ll meet at the Copenhagen Half Marathon. At the same time, the route is packed with power zones, music and entertainment that are only there to make your run easier.
Along the way, you’ll cross all of Copenhagen’s charming, hip and colorful bridge districts and pass through the historic inner city.
In short, you can look forward to a race with plenty of atmosphere and entertainment, making the 21.0975 km a truly unique experience.
We look forward to seeing you. The Copenhagen Half Marathon is not our race. It’s yours. But we guarantee that we will do everything we can to give you the experience of a lifetime and get you all the way to your goal.

PROS: Large, very well-organized, world-class, late-summer race; varied and generally flat loop course taking you through the heart of a great city; fantastic crowd support, better than any I have seen elsewhere; good-quality race shirts. CONS: Late start at this time of year can make for hot running conditions; long wait times at the start to get moving if your expected finish is around two hours or slower. SUM-UP: I definitely recommend the Copenhagen Half Marathon. But it would be perfect if they made it start earlier. Remember to register early, as it can sell out months ahead of race day. Copenhagen Half Marathon 2017 was different. We started with bright sunshine and perfect weather conditions, but weather changed while running through the streets of beautiful Copenhagen. A huge thunderstorm came up and flooded the streets with hail. The race had to be discontinued after 2 hours and a bit. Lucky who was fast enough to finish in time! I ran the race before and it´s really a nice race, especially the finish area which is a huge park is very nice to relax after the race. This time the park was flooded too, so no relaxing after the race…

The only Scandinavian IAAF gold label race always competes over the title of worlds fastest halfmarathon with other prestigious races like Barcelona, Berlin or Dubai. So the elite field has all the big names and the race production is smooth as you expect it when organising a field of 22.000 runners. Unfortunately the weather gods were not with us in 2017. Starting out in the sun and almost perfect temperature it started to rain and hail so badly that the timing Mats were washed away in the finish area and timing had be done with a back up system before the organisers had to discontinue the race after about 2:10h. The course is flat and Copenhagenians were cheering and pushing. One runs a big loop through the city and I really enjoyed running the race which happened to be my 100th half. I ll probably give it a try next year again and will focus on running a fast time instead of just enjoying the race. We got a shirt and medal. Maybe due to the weather (?) there was no post race food.
