Each year the community comes together to support youths in recovery through the A Light of Hope charity, to show that we are here for them and together we can make a positive impact on their lives.

Featuring a 5K loop course on the beautiful San Fracisquito Creek paseo trails of Santa Clarita. Starting at the paseo entrance from West Creek Park and going down to Decoro Dr and up to Copper Hill Dr before returning to the finish line to complete the loop. 10K runners complete the loop twice. Includes one aid-station at the halfway point with water and electrolytes to keep you hydrated and finishing strong!
We’re taking a stand against the devastation caused by youth substance abuse and other self-destructive behaviors by raising much-needed awareness and funds to support the work of A Light of Hope in our community. A portion of your entry proceeds goes to support A Light of Hope.

It’s a great little race that supports a good cause. I would encourage everyone to pay attention to the race directors and foundation founders when they speak up before the race. It’s really beautiful to see why this race exists, as someone who lost a loved one to addiction. And yes, running through the light arches is fun!

I ran the 10K for 2024 & 2025. The course has a slight incline which is not too bad (~230ft of elevation) and is on the bike path majority of the time. The tech shirt is great. I love the fabric. The goodies are excellent. I got plenty of Prime Strawberry Watermelon and food. There are no age group awards if that is what you are shooting for. This is also a night run so be careful not to bump into other runners or cyclists.

This is a great race for all levels of running or walking. After many years of my friends and family participating I was talked into doing this one. I say “talked into” because I have never ran before. It was appealing to me because it was at night and of course because of GLOW! My sister has completed many events like this and this is one of her favorites. She told me this would be a great one to try and see if you like it. We both signed up for the 5k and our friend signed up for the 10k. We all had a great time. I mentioned I was doing my first 5k and even my neighbors participated in the 5k as well. Our friend who attended actually came in 1st place for the women’s 10k – GO ASHLEY! Great run/walk, lots of fun, well organized, great location, and friendly staff to show you where to go both before and after the race. Speaking of after, the award ceremony was great and there were plenty of snacks and drinks after. I proudly kept my shirt, completion medal and race bib. Great fun no matter if you run or walk!

This is a fun night event put on by a great group of folks. The volunteers and course workers are always full of energy and cheer which is great. The lighted arches leading into the finish line is a neat experience for such a small race. If I had it to do over again, I would do the 5K rather than the 10 for a few reasons.
1. The 10K is two loops of the 5K course and the 5K starts immediately after the 10K, this means that on lap 2 of the 10K it’s pure chaos trying to navigate all of the walking and slow jogging 5K’ers. They’re all over the course, having a great time but without any regard for the faster 10K runners coming through on their second lap.
2. There was just one aid station on the opposite side of the loop which is fine, but it was a warm night and I would have liked a sip of electrolytes on both laps. Wouldn’t need it in a 5K but when you’re out there for 40 minutes, it would definitely help. First lap through it looked like they weren’t really set up yet. There was only one volunteer at the tables, no one there to hand out cups to runners and it was far off the running line, so I figured I’d wait til lap two. But by that time the aid station was swarmed with 5Kers and I couldn’t get over there at all so I didn’t bother.
3. Outside of the start/finish and the bridges, this path is super pitch black dark at night. Even with a headlamp it’s hard to see where you’re going which made it a little tedious for a 10K
All in all, I had a good time and I’ll be back next year, but I’ll stick to the 5K

It was perfect weather. Loved that there was virtually 0% chance of sunburn for the run.

People get into it, so make sure you come prepared to light up! Perfect encouraging first race for our family. We have already planned our next race to train for!

In the past I have noted this is promoted as a 5k, and unless you are pretty snap as a 10k runner, I wouldn’t do this as your first. I especially wouldn’t do it if you plan on walking 10k, however this year, the two races both started at night, which fixed the heat issue (it’s often triple digit heat this time of year) and there were many more 10k runners than I ever saw before, so maybe after I heal from this latest injury I may give 10k another try with this race
Mostly I really enjoy the novelty of running at night, it’s so beautiful to see all the people running with different fun kinds of lights. Some years I wear my head lamp and other times my flashing hat. The scenery IS beautiful but as it gets dark you can’t see much of it. The swag is great and the organization and support is awesome. I highly recommend as your first race for 5k, especially if you want to do this walking, with kids, or pushing a stroller. I even see people doing it with a walker. It’s all smooth pavement so you can do this!

It was very moving when they started talking about the purpose of the fundraiser agenda. I appreciate all the effort it took to put this on.
