It wasn’t as humid as I thought it would be, but thankful I had my own hydration pack on. I drank the Gatorade from the aid stations and dumped water on my head about 3-4 times during this race. The distance, heat, and humidity combo will get you as a first time runner.
The hills – aren’t too bad. I did walk a decent amount of the hills but I felt like I was making good progress as a newbie. This was a challenging race – even when I trained for this for 2.5 months as a beginner runner. GREAT crowds cheering you on – which was a huge push for me.

Annapolis events typically have good scenery and crowd support. This run is one of the oldest events in the capital city. Running past the Navy Academy, Main Street and the bridges made this fun for me. The crowd support was good and the pre and post run events are solid.

I really got lucky with this race. The past few years I avoided signing up for this 10 miler because it’s in August, it’s hilly, and it’s expensive. But this year was the 50th anniversary, and they had a $50 fee on the first day of registration. So I signed up. Then, race day ended up being cooler than in previous years, so it was actually very pleasant. The hills were still rough, but not as bad as if the weather was super hot.
The race production was well done. They had great vendors at packet pick up, and the post race amenities included cold towels, snacks, delicious popsicles, and local beer. Everything ran smoothly, which isn’t too much of a surprise since they’ve been doing this for 50 years. I really like the finisher premium and look forward to wearing it when the weather gets colder.
I am glad I was finally able to run this race. It’s definitely one that people living in the area should try at least once. Several members of my training group run it every year and even volunteer as pacers. I highly recommend this race and hope that future runners experience good weather like I did!

Literally one of my favorite races that I come back to as often as I can! The Annapolis Road Runners put on a great race with lots of Water/Gatorade on the course and a really great finisher’s jacket. The course is a more challenging one but mostly in the back 10K. The first few miles are some gentle rolling hills but by mile 4 (when you hit the bridge) it’s some pretty big hills going up and down and it’ll kick your butt if you’re not prepared. You finish going up hill for the last 400 meters or so, so get ready for a big push.
Despite the challenge of the course it’s really beautiful and there’s decent crowd support throughout. If you’re up for a challenge do this race!
(side note getting in/out of the parking lot can kind of be a nightmare so be sure to get there early and maybe hang around for a bit after the race to avoid the traffic getting out)

Kicking off my fall events with the Annapolis 10Miler. Felt great and treated this like a long easy run. Walked all the hills on the back half of the course and really enjoyed the bridges. Well organized with great volunteers. Loved the start and finish at Navy Memorial Stadium.

I been living in Baltimore for 40+ years but for whatever reason, never ran this race until now. Everything about this race was picture perfect. What really stands out is the awesome swag! Got a quality windbreaker jacket, hat, medal and some small towels with race logo! The course has some decent hills but they aren’t vicious. Plenty of water stations. I will be back next year for sure!

This race is one of my all time favorites and it’s been different every time that I’ve run it. The Annapolis striders always put on a good race. The course is challenging with lots of hills but the scenery is so so good. The finishers jacket is also such a great item to have!
