This race was perfect for me as I am an evening runner and don’t do well on hills. The only part of the race that I question was the starting line. It was a bit of a bottleneck and since I wasn’t sure where the timer started, I was afraid I was being forced to walk when I should have started running. Luckily the start line is about a quarter of a mile from where the bottle neck starts so I was able to run when I went over the timer, but I have to say I was worried at first. I think they need to give each running corral more time to fix the traffic jam at the beginning and it would help if the walkers were all at the back, but probably can’t fix that. Otherwise, it was it was a fun run, and this night owl hopes to find more runs that don’t start at the break of dawn.

Well organized race, pretty views, and great volunteers. Loved that they give you gloves and blankets while you wait for the race to start. Would have been very cold without them! Did a great job of keeping everything organized from the busses to get you to the start line, local police keeping roads closed (sorry locals) and everyone on route, and the festivities at the end. Would definitely suggest this race for anyone who is looking for something downhill.

Great mostly downhill race! Start and finish are definitely smooth as silk and there are plenty of water stations along the course. Scenery is beautiful but you are running along side I-70. Overall this is one of my favorite races I have done and for those who care it seems to be very walker, and dog friendly. I would highly recommend this race for anyone who is interested.

It was my first marathon and I didn’t do great but this route is not flat or easy with some sandy parts after mile 20. The experience is worth every painful mile, knowing you are running in honor of soldiers who went through hell protecting our country and our allies.

Not my best race but it was hard to stay focused and maneuver around all the people who would stop and walk, take selfies, and be part of the shenanigan’s happening on the sidelines. I know that is part of the race, so it didn’t upset me, but if you are looking for a PR definitely try to get as high up on the waves as you can! On the other hand the race was well organized but the swag was a little weak (no medal) and you had to pay for lunch otherwise you just got a few snacks. You did get a beer though, which is always a plus in my book. 😉

I have never ran an relay before and thought it would be a bit of a cluster, but it actually went very smoothly. Lots of fun spectators and the scenery was beautiful too. Fortunately I got to do Leg 2 around Sloan Lake which is always a pretty run. The finish line at City Park was crowded, but that was to be expected. I had an awesome time and would do it again!!!

This is a well organized race with great volunteers and a fun crowd cheering you on. I signed up for the 5k on a whim since I was going to be in Cincinnati for a baseball game and hadn’t done much long distance training this year and it was a blast. Not to mention I got a PR which makes it that much better! Maybe one day I will head back and do the Half!!!

Signed my son up for the kids 1k, which was a lot of fun!!! And then signed myself up for the 5k. There is a section where you are doing a little easy rock scrambling which was fun, but if you are like me and are always shooting for a PR be sure to sign up for one of the first few waves. That scrambling section backs up and makes your race time irrelevant.

Decided I was going to sign up for a race since my last race was a 5k in JR High and I felt like pushing myself. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to run! Kauai is gorgeous, and the race was well organized. FYI, this race is not flat so don’t underestimate the difficulty but I would highly suggest this to anyone who can get out to Kauai…great place for a run-cation!!!
