Ragnar Trail Colorado, formerly Ragnar Trail Snowmass-CO, is back this June at Snowmass Village. This is a full-blown 3-day weekend adventure bringing together Rocky Mountain beauty, high-country camping and stunning trails that are sure to impress.
Come Thursday night for a bonus night of fun and festivities; you can even upgrade your camping experience with Ragnar Glamping. If air conditioning is more your style, enjoy world-class lodging right at Snowmass Village.
Come Friday, you and your team (up to 8 friends) will begin your journey conquering three challenging trail loops. When the sun sets and the moon comes out, the party keeps going as runners head to the trails in the dark for a soul-searching and star-fueled night of running.
Experience true mountain running with snow-capped peak views, blooming wildflowers, ridge running, buffed-out trails, and even a little climbing (with a BIG pay-off). With its incredible views, the altitude definitely won’t be the only thing taking your breath away. Your whole team will finish together on Saturday, triumphantly, under the Ragnar arch with unforgettable memories and a bond to last a lifetime.
Green Loop – Upper North Mesa Trail: Giddyup, up, up, and up! This awesome single-track trail starts off as an innocent meander down a smooth path and then quickly climbs to over 8500’ through beautiful aspen and pine forests. As you climb, you’ll get a few flat spots to recover and take it all in before you resume your ascent. Once at the apex, be sure to look out over the valley for an incredible view of Pyramid Peak and the back-side of Maroon Bells. As you descend back towards Ragnar Village, you’ll wish you were back up the mountain again. But don’t worry. You’ll have a few more opportunities to witness the beauty that is Ragnar Trail Snowmass.
Yellow Loop – Highline / Lowline Trail: You’ll run under the tunnel past your cheering friends along the Soccer and Softball camping areas and head east to the Highline trailhead. This trail runs along the golf course, up the road, then you’ll get to the good stuff! Single track will meet you after a jaunt on a dirt road, but be careful, you’ve got other Yellow Loop runners coming at you as oncoming traffic once you get on the single track. After some gentle climbing the rolling singletrack will feel nice! Before you know it, you’ll be switchbacking down the hill towards the village and through the tunnel once again. Don’t get too excited, you have to pass the Village, go around the Rec. Center, before circling back to the Village and to the finish!
Red Loop – Rim Trail: The Red Loop starts like the Yellow, along the Soccer field, but once you go through the tunnel, you’ll split right, away from the Yellow loop. This is were the climb starts. You’ll be running on a paved sidewalk/road for aout 2.25 miles all the while going up! Once the paved road turns to dirt, you know you’ve only got a 1/4 mile until you got on amazingly beautiful trail. You’ll run along the 9000’ ridge overlooking Snowmass and Ragnar Village to the perfect combination of epic views, gorgeous wildflowers, deep dark forests and a long meandering descent. Once you hit about 3.5 miles, you’ve done all your climbing, time to go doooowwwnnnnn. On the way down, you’ll meet up with your friends from the Green Loop for a run into the Village together. This is Ragnar Trail at its finest.
