Leaf Peepers is at the perfect time of year, and they got the weekend spot on for optimal fall foliage. Nice cold morning to start which turned in to a beautiful afternoon. Race volunteers were very helpful and friendly, and the out and back gives you a chance to watch the winners run by. Most of the race is run along the river, so pretty views abound, with 3 aid stations on course. A tiny taste of trail at the end for less than a mile, though the leftover sand from flooding slowed me down a bit. Great race if you enjoy a smaller town feel! This year we received a long sleeve shirt and medal, as well as chili at the end!

This race was fantastic! The race organizers have it down to a science, and everyone lived up to the “friendliest” monicker. Great swag at the end as well – hat, blanket, medal. This was my second ever full marathon (though I’ve run over 20 halfs), and I was able to PR by over 36 minutes. The race has just enough rolling hills to change things up a bit, but nothing crazy. That downhill finish had me hoping I would faceplant though😂. Weather was PERFECT this year, and I will definitely add it to my list to repeat in my BQ quest. Wish I was a local to come back year after year!

This was my first ever experience on trails. I bought trail shoes specifically for this race, and was very glad I had them. The race directors sent out plenty of emails to warn us about the wet terrain (Yellowstone would flood days after the race!)

The race was challenging, but so much fun!!! The hill around mile 4-6 was no joke and I, along with almost everyone else, ended up power hiking it. The downhills were fun, but also involved jumping from rock to rock. I almost completely ate it, somehow regained my balance halfway through the fall. I would recommend this as part of the back to back with Grand Teton. Great way to see the National Park!

To sum up this race in one word: BEAUTIFUL! The natural scenery was unlike anything I’d run before. And, it was mostly a flat bike path, making it a relatively easy course. I live at less than 1000’ elevation and didn’t have much trouble running it the day after flying in. We ran past horses, fields, and almost always had a view of the Grand Tetons. The only slightly challenging bit was running in my fairly old road shoes on the packed gravel and sliding a bit.

I highly recommend this race, and back to back with Yellowstone if you can!

I signed up for this race without doing much research, as a friend lived in Philly and I needed a Pennsylvania race for my 50 states goal. I did NOT realize this was a MASSIVE race with nearly 30,000 participants. That meant very long lines with COVID checks at the expo, and security lines to enter the race corrals (we barely made it in before the National Anthem and we got there early). Other than that, the race was gorgeous! Around freezing for the start, but warmed a bit when the sun came out, and it was a beautiful day. Seeing all the big sights of Philly, running past the Liberty Bell, through some hills in a local park. And one of my favorite medals to date! I would definitely run again, and it’s on my marathon to-do list when I wrap up 50 Halfs!
