Good pre-race communication, good course except the last half mile where there was sand on the trail. Perfect time of year for the scenery, which was amazing. I had paired with NH Marathon (Half) the day before, so I started on tired legs and brought up the rear of the field and still felt supported.

Somewhere around 400-500 runners split 2/3 or so half and 1/3 or so 5k. Racing during leaf peeping season is the highlight. The course is about 2/3 on a gravel road on an out and back course. The last half mile runs between a corn field and a river. Lots of sand here they didn’t need to make us run thru. Simple long sleeve t shirt for swag. Chili was the only post race food. Race started at 9 am. Which is great if it’s cold, but when it’s bright and sunny and it’s 80 F when you finish it’s not.

Leaf Peepers is at the perfect time of year, and they got the weekend spot on for optimal fall foliage. Nice cold morning to start which turned in to a beautiful afternoon. Race volunteers were very helpful and friendly, and the out and back gives you a chance to watch the winners run by. Most of the race is run along the river, so pretty views abound, with 3 aid stations on course. A tiny taste of trail at the end for less than a mile, though the leftover sand from flooding slowed me down a bit. Great race if you enjoy a smaller town feel! This year we received a long sleeve shirt and medal, as well as chili at the end!
Nice small town race event.
There are some hills on this course which can be challenging if you only train/run on flat courses. Volunteers for this event were awesome. MORE
