I participated as a Charity Runner and it was an amazing experience.
The Expo is nothing special. The Pop-up shops along Newbury street are where all the brands are and they each have shakeout runs. Lots of free hats at shakeout runs.
The bus from Boston to Hopkinton is easy to load – no issues.
I was in wave 4 so the starting village was not that crowded if you kept walking toward the back plus they had no-line potty. Lots of people crowded at the entrance.
The course is cool because there are no “real” turns until you get to Boston
The spectators are the best…It was a warm day and they had ice in bags plus popsicles along the course.
I practiced on hills so the Newton hills were not an issue for me.
Lots of bars/restaurants give out free food to runner after the race.
The hotels close to the starting line are very expensive (800-1200/night).
Save your money and run Boston if you can!

Pros:
Packet pickup is separate from the Expo so you don’t have to walk through a maze of vendors to exit.
Bag Check is in the spacious and warm Convention Center and you can wait in there until your corral is called. It was cold this year so this was nice!
Great crowd support considering it was a cold day
Swag: Beach towel, Finisher shirt (given out after you finish)
My favorite is that after you cross the finish line, you are led back into the WARM Convention Center! Plus there is a sit-down hot breakfast with hot drinks. There are also lots of snacks and ice cream. After you leave the Convention Center they have a traditional outdoor festivities with beer and vendors.
The organization is great and I love the Convention Center 🙂 I would definitely run this race again.
Cons:
Course can get crowded toward end of half marathon b/c the road is shared with the Marathon

My family runs this race every year on Thanksgiving day. The start is beautiful as you run toward our Nation’s Capital on Pennsylvania Avenue. You also run by the capital on your way back to the finish line. This race raising money for a local DC charity So Others Might Eat (SOME). I highly recommend this race!

If your idea of fun is running a very difficult city course with over 1,300 Ft in elevation gain with the majority of the gains in mile 15 to 22 then this is your race 🙂 It rain off and on throughout the day so the crowds were on the light side however the spectators I saw were very enthusiastic. The rain wasn’t that bad as it kept me very comfortable while running. The Baltimore Police officers and Safety workers offered words of encouragement.
Pros: Free parking in the Baseball/Football stadium lots which are very close to the starting line
*Normally the race actually starts in the Orioles Baseball stadium however because the team made the playoff it was moved outside the stadium. We still had access to the bathroom in the stadium which was so nice.
*You run through the local zoo
*Post run festival is at the Inner Harbor which is beautiful
*The medal is the coolest crab EVER!
Cons:
*The hardest part of the course has the fewest spectator so you will have to dig deep if you are use to crowds pushing you forward.
*Prepare for the 1/2 mile walk back to your car:-)
*No protein at the finish just water, banana, pretzels, and fruit cup

Overall it was a nice race experience and I am so happy I ran with a friend.
In addition to the Marathon they also have a Half Marathon, 10K and 5K. I’m opting for the 10K next year. LOL!

The race starts in this quaint little English town and ends at Buckingham Palace. The crowds are massive along the course. People a packed against the barriers sometimes 2 and 3 deep cheering for everyone. There are DJs and random houses with music blasting. It is a party for 26.2 miles. It was raining continuously at the beginning and it was still packed with people. The best cheer zone is at Mile 21 Run Dem Crew which is amazing. I’ve run 5 big city marathons (Tokyo, Chicago, Marine Corps, Richmond and now London) and London is my favorite. I would run it again but next time I will bring my own sport drink. There are only 4 sport drink stops the 1st being at Mile 9. I was so depleted of electrolytes by the time I got to Mile 9.

This is a great small town race. The starting line is a quick 1/2 mile from the free parking garage. You don’t have to worry about corrals just show up 30 mins before and run 🙂 I felt very safe running on the course with police blocking intersections and paroling the course on motorcycles. One lane is closed for runners however there wasn’t a lot of traffic on the roads. Water was every 3 miles so if you need it more often BYOB.
Very little crowd support so bring your music. Although you run through a tunnel on Salisbury University’s campus lined with students cheering which was cool.
The medal ribbon wasn’t distance specific which was disappointing so 10 years from now I won’t be able to tell which distance I completed. LOL!
The course is scenic, flat and fast.
The weather was terrible with rain, wind, thunder and lightning so I didn’t really enjoy the run.
I recommend this race if you don’t mind a quiet solo run around town. I will definitely run this race again hopefully the weather will be better.

The Marines always host great races! The hill at 1.5 miles was just the beginning of the hills. The misty rain turned into a steady downpour however it wasn’t bad because it wasn’t cold. The run through Prince Williams Forest was quiet and relaxing as there were no spectators. In additional to a T-shirt we also received a nice coffee table picture book about the Marine Corp Marathon which is very nice. I recommend this race.

This turned out to be my favorite race so far. We had to jump through so many hoops to participate in this race…Health Apps to record our temperature for several days, 2 x Covid Test, a final temperature at the entrance to your corral. I pass everything so I was allowed to run!
The course has 4 out and backs which became boring. However they had nice cultural on course entertainment.
I am a back of the pack runner so the strict cut off times were a concern. I ran the 1st half faster than usual to build a cushion. This lead to a PR!
There is no real food on the course except for a pouch of “Apple Jelly” which I didn’t eat. I packed all my on course food…thank goodness I didn’t drop anything.
At the finish line we were given: beautiful robe, 1 bottle water, 1 bottle of sports drink Pocari Sweet, and one small pouch of “Body Conditioning” (I didn’t eat). No banana! I wish I would have paid for the bag drop so that I could have packed some post race food. I was so hungry after the race.
All in All this was an amazing race!
I definitely recommend this race because the Japanese people are welcoming and friendly. Tokyo is also a very safe and easy to navigate city.

~10.5 mile loop trail through Dinosaur Valley State Park. I needed shoes with a rock plate 🙂 There were a few hill that caught up with me toward the end. It was a nice race experience.
Great aid stations and volunteers. I was with a group that had folks running 50k, 100k and 100 miles!
Race Swag: Cool Hoodie plus a wooden medal. Plus if you registered early you could pick your bib number and add a name to it.

This marathon was so much fun! The crowd support and volunteers are great. The run along the James River is beautiful. I hit a wall at Mile 14 when the temps reached 79 F in full sun with no clouds. The junk food stations and the whisky shots were just what I needed to lift my mood. LOL! The finisher’s festival has beer, pizza, and DJ with tables/chairs. I recommend you adding this race to your calendar.

1st of all….Splure for the Skyline Hospitality Tent as it was extremely nice! You receive a gourmet buffet breakfast and lunch, escort to the starting corral ~30 mins before start time, dedicated gear check and bathrooms. It wasn’t crowded and very spacious. After the race I relaxed on the grass and enjoyed my lunch. Please note the Tent closes at 4pm so if you are a back of the pack runner you have to have a plan to run a little faster:-).
This was my 2nd marathon and 1st WMM. The crowd support was impressive! Maybe I missed them but I didn’t see consistent mile markers.
The volunteer were great at the water stations. The beautiful weather made the perfect. I would definitely run Chicago again in the future.

The ran through downtown Chicago which was so cool. The street are wide so there was enough room for everyone. I received my bib and winter hat in the mail which was nice. There was only one water stop on the course. There was
lot of crowd support. We received metal too!

I love NYRR events! You can pick up your bib the morning of the event. Water stations and the NYC bagel at the end are always A+. It is always a fun relaxed atmosphere. This race tough as there was a giant hill in the middle :-). Lots of crowd support along the route. There was a band playing at the finish line. This 5k kicked off Harlem Week. This was a fun run to complete on my road to completing my 9+1. I will do it again next year.

It was a well organized event and the short course was easy to follow. The course was changed from a ~4 mile loop to a ~2.4 mile loop because the Navy was having live artillery practice. We heard lot of gun fire during the 1st part of the race which was a great motivation to run :-)There was one aid station with snacks, ice water, and Gatorade. They had a seperate ice water tube with towels and an ice only cooler. I took full advantage of both as the day got hotter. The towel were great for keeping your body temp down. The view of the Chesapeake Bay and Bay Bridge were beautiful! Also we ran past the parking lot so many people crewed themselves from their car. I will definitely do this next year. I will also try a run/walk strategy next year too. I ran the 1st 4 hours with no issue then 11am hit with 100 degree temps and I hit a hall. I walked the last 2 hours which was hard. I’m looking forward to next year!

This was my 1st marathon and it was great. I arrived an hour before start time. Parking was easy and there was no line at bib pickup, no line for the bathroom in the YMCA. There were about 50+ people standing around the starting area. The RD announced “You can start when you want.” I literally walked up to the starting line and started running by myself. LOL!
They had consistent mile markers, water/Gatorade stations, a very little crowd support. Mostly you are running solo along the train tracks which was was good for me. It is mostly out and back on a dirt trail. I wanted a very relaxed, non stressful 1st marathon and York was perfect!
