Welcome to the Dinosaur Valley Endurance Run at the beautiful Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, Texas. The Active Joe brought North Texas its first 100 miler, and we continue to grow every year! We offer 5 distances so there’s a challenge for every interest level.
In all these distances, you’ll be among other amazing athletes challenging themselves. There are lots of gradual up and downhills that add up, and a mix of terrain between soft dirt, rocks, and roots. Some parts are technical while other parts are super runnable. This is a pretty hilly 100 miler by Texas standards, and the terrain can trip you up as you fatigue. Use that first loop through the course to settle into a pace for the race and not go out too fast.
Our 100K and 100 Miler are both Western States qualifying races!!! Qualifying times aren’t announced until September, so the following is based on the current qualifying times: If you complete the 100K distance in under 22 hours, you earn your qualifier for the next year’s lottery. This includes those who pass the 100K mark (same course as the 100K) in the 100 mile distance in under 22 hours since all 100 milers get a recorded 100K finish. All those who finish the 100 miler under 35 hours will get a qualifier. So qualify in the 100K distance OR the 100 mile distance.
We focus a lot on inclusion and diversity initiatives, so our race being a qualifier will also add more diversity into the lottery and ultimately the start line of the race!

This course is tougher than it loops on paper. Medium elevation gain over course (9000′), but the up and down, roots, and loose rock sections were slow going. Started as 100M participant, but had to drop at ~69 miles/19hrs due to hydration/nutrition issues (again).
There is a lot of out and back sections, so fun to see same people over and over. The course was very well marked. Aid stations were great, except the very loud music from Fenceline all night long…..which was a little much for me.
Honestly not a huge fan of loop courses, but this was a good one. I may try this one again for 100M buckle.
Killer race team, but a killer course!

The runner village is organized nicely, and the finisher buckle is very cool. This race chewed me up hard!

~10.5 mile loop trail through Dinosaur Valley State Park. I needed shoes with a rock plate 🙂 There were a few hill that caught up with me toward the end. It was a nice race experience.
Great aid stations and volunteers. I was with a group that had folks running 50k, 100k and 100 miles!
Race Swag: Cool Hoodie plus a wooden medal. Plus if you registered early you could pick your bib number and add a name to it.
