I live and train in The Woodlands, so the course is very familiar to me. The half will take you through pretty treelined roads and neighborhoods, there are some gentle rollers but the second half is mostly a gentle down hill. There is little shade in the course, but I think that’s more of an issue for the full marathoners. I’m noticing more crowd support every year!

Love love love this Marathon! Point to point course with rolling hills and incredible support. It really does feel like all of Duluth get behind this race and come out to cheer the runners on.
The weather wasn’t exactly on our side this year- it was warm and very humid which made the second half tough. Little snippets of breeze from Lake Superior felt amazing.
We made this into a family racecation and there was lots of fun stuff to keep my kids occupied (free concert, free kids race). My husband reports that spectating was easy, and the communication for spectators was thorough.

All in all, extremely well run, amazing vibes. A celebration of Minnesota and if our beloved sport!

The race was well organized, friendly staff, friendly volunteers! The course is about as flat as you can get until that mean hill at the end, but you are swiftly rewarded with a little downhill, and the finish line. There wasn’t a huge amount of crowd support, but I never tired of the ocean views! Awesome finisher party!

Only a couple of cons- you never know what the gulf will cook up for you in terms of weather. The headwind was unrelenting, and the temperature crept up to 70 by the end of my race. I think this cost me a PR, but who can say? NOT ENOUGH TOILETS AT THD START! And finally, I’m not a meat eater, it would have been awesome to have some veggie food at the finish line besides a banana, but that’s just me 🙂

I think other ravers have acknowledged that it was a rough year for the Fargo marathon. To me it was totally understandable given the passing of the beloved race director, and the need to change the course last minute because of flooding. On top of that, it got pretty hot and sunny for the Marathoners! Nevertheless, I think the spirit of the race was there! Friendly volunteers, amazing community support, great communication and excellent swag. The course was flat (but pretty twisty turny) and I feel like I’d had a full tour of the city by the end. A great choice for ND.

Loved our time in Lafayette! The race was small but well organized, and everyone was SO friendly and welcoming. I personally found the double loop format mentally tough, but that was the only downside for me. I’m a middle of the pack runner and unexpectedly got first place in my age group… yay for small town marathons!
