The trails are tough but safe, and stunning. Management is top notch, and swag? Like the old days! This was my first rehab run since knee surgery, and I had no idea how these tough and rugged trails would be. The exceptional runners around me, the kind photographers, and at the end, a crew to hand me an ice pack made it a really great encouraging day – AGAIN! I hope to be back up to 15K by next year at Spacerock! Live long and Thrive!!

I had to run from home a few days late due to having the cooties. I ran with a new tool – Runkeeper! Terry, the RD, is so terrific, and has been so supportive of everyone who loves Spacerock. With mental vistas of those rocks, the sliding down some slopes, clamboring up others, and seeing that finish line, while I missed the full effect, as a Legacy runner, the images were clear. A first run since the cooties, it was a superbly slow time – but the first step back to health. CANNOT WAIT to sign up for next year.

This was my first run back after knee surgery, and even though we lived down there for 18 years, I forgot how TOUGH – and unmaintained – those trails were. I took my time deliberately to preserve my well-taped knee. The sunset was beautiful, the trails were as I then recalled – tough and tricky in spots. Having ridden those trails in the endurance rids of the past, I was aware of how tough they were but it slipped my mind, and so my time stunk. Management did a great job, trail was well marked except in the turn for the finish, and the event was well attended. Well trimmed mustard plant most of the way, and lovely finishing medals. Shirts not great – handsome design but too small when they shrunk. SUPER after race food! Beer garden and street tacos included. All in all a terrific event.

I love this run – the location, the celebration, the trail – and since I am still healing a bad knee, I wanted a trail I knew. Just the 5K, but it was a challenge on that knee, and as always, I enjoyed every moment. Scenery is great, management great, and the crowds that come for this race well that says it all. We will be there next year – keep my 100% attendance record going.

Last year, the Woolsey Fire canceled this run, and since it was where I used to run for the 18 years we lived there, it was an emotional experience for me. BEAUTIFUL trails, and an awesome sight of the Baleen Wall at sunrise. Course isn’t TOUGH but the downhills are rock hard and steep – loads of fun. Plan to run the 15K next year.

Having been bitten by a bad stomach bug, I missed the actual day, but ran in the virtual category a few days later. This would be my fourth year, and the trails are fabulous, as is the management. While I didn’t miss the distance, having run it here, that race is SO much fun and just enough of a challenge that I miss that part of it – and will be back in 2020.

The 5K provides a challenge net included in the 10K, which I ran a couple of years ago. A switchback, STEEP part of the trail that is about 1/4 mile in length, maybe more, is a butt kicker near the end, then after another 1/2 mile of rolling single track, another neatly STRAIGHT UP climb, not as long, but steep. The beauty of the trail keeps your mind off the hard work – somewhat – but the rest of the trail is rolling as well, with really no flat areas at all. We will go back again!

Great MEDALS, GREATER SHIRTS, superb volunteers and goodies, management is top notch – and this run might be the toughest 10 miler I have done. Lots of rocks and steep uphills and downhills, and to accommodate cleanup sites from the Woolsey fire last year, the reroute added nearly two miles to the route. I used to ride the endurance rides – horses – up here, and I have a new appreciation for what I asked my horses to do! But – the VIEWS and the unique and stunningly beautiful views and trails were WORTH every second! At MY age, I don’t go fast, so my time STUNK but I recovered in a day, so I would consider this a MUST-DO event for its stellar qualities – but come with good quads and hams – and take plenty of water.

Cannot beat the beautiful vistas and floral hillsides and the beautiful weather was a bit plus, cool and sunny! This is the third year of the trail run and if there is ONE THING they continue to not address – and likely ONLY one thing – is the lack of loos. They had to start the 10K late again this year because people were still in line for the Andy Gump. For this size event there should be 8-10 of them, not 5. Spending 20-30 minute waiting in line forces the run to start late. Once on the road, beautiful and great volunteers! Going next year too

I ran the 5K last year, while sick – ugh – and the 5K the inaugural year, and at my age i don’t set any land speed records. In 2004, I shattered an ankle and was told I would never run again. I believed them because I looked like Quasi Modo and scared small kids when I tried.I joined a bible study group at our church called “Run For God” without THINKING – and that was in 2015. That July, I finished my first ever 5K race! Not last! A few months later, I STUPIDLY signed up for the Wild Wild West Lone Pine Trial run – 10 miles….. YIKES! I finished, with my daughter along, and though it kicked my butt, I LOVED every second of it! Well, then came the Indian Wells Man Vs Horse and then the Inaugural Spacerock run – and I am now hooked. I am running and I found the 10K this year to be SO AWESOME and I finished feeling better than the 5K! Now, I send photos from the runs to my surgeon. 🙂 The Spacerock run is challenging – technical but safe, and with a few butt kicking uphills – but there is no other run like it – so far! We will be back, and my 79 year old husband plans to run the 5K in 2019 as I run the 10K.Don’t miss this run – spectacular views, great staff, superbly planned – and oh so FUN! BTW, I just turned 61 in Sept!

I have done this stunning run 3 times and am signed up for 2019. Treat yourself to the stunning beauty and majesty of the Sierras in crisp springtime.

I loved this run LAST year even though I missed a turn. Included in your entry are – a nice long pull, some great whoop-de-doos, sweeping downhill at the end – and the very BEST aid stations and peeps around. I COULD have ridden my horse but wanted to celebrate my 60th birthday just showing myself that I could do it again. I will be back!

PAY ATTENTION – bring plenty of water. Stopped to help someone about 500 yards before the turn off to the finish, and after helping her went back on the trail JUST PAST the turn off so went an extra 3 miles. I FINISHED though lol! The tow people I stopped to help lacked water and one had no fuel whatsoever. repave to be self sufficient – but the AID STATIONS – GREAT!
