This is a large race (around 18,000 for the marathon, half, and 8k), but it’s well-organized. There are wave starts to help with crowding on the course, although there’s still some crowding. The course only had some moderate but not steep hills and a downhill finish (some said it was too steep but I loved it). Spectator and volunteer support was the best I’ve seen at any race. People were lined up along most of the course cheering runners on. At the finish, we got a nice blanket and hat along with our medal. There was pizza and beer and some other foods you could purchase. We got a long-sleeve technical shirt and race bib at the expo before the race. I highly recommend this race!

This is a small race so maybe it’s not fair to compare it to bigger half marathons but still, there are more cons than pros in my opinion. The race shirt was cotton and there were no AG awards (or any awards at all for that matter), no after race party, just water, bananas, and granola bars after the race. There were pretty much no spectators on the course. Now let’s get to the course specifics. It’s crushed gravel for a large portion but the gravel is large enough to make it difficult to get your footing, especially on the uphill portions. I struggled for a majority of this course because of the layout. I was not a fan and found this one of the most difficult half marathons I’ve ever run (this was my 50th half). It was far from my fastest finish time, but definitely not my worst either. This race just let me check off the box for my half marathon in Minnesota. If you’re a 50-stater, I’d say, try to find another race.

This race is mostly around Zorinsky Lake, which is beautiful in the fall with the changing leaves. There are some hills but they aren’t awful. The medals are nice, the athletic pullover is really nice, and the hot cider and caramel apple at the finish were oh so good! Volunteers are plenty, as are water stations, but spectators are scarce. The race is well-organized.

This race began in a small park going downhill for the first 2 miles. The rest of the course was past farms and green pastures. There were plenty of aid stations and a surprising number of people cheering runners on. The medal was ok as was the race shirt. We also got a draw string bag, water bottle, Hammer nutrition samples, and a sticker. Post-race food was rolls, mini muffins, bananas, orange slices, watermelon, water, and chocolate milk. This is a fast course and I got a PR. Wyoming was my 46th state for a half marathon.

This is a small race with little swag (a shirt and medal) but trophies 3-deep in each age group. Course was on crushed gravel through Cape Henlopen State Park and was scenic. Wind was brutal at times. Hotdogs, hamburgers, beer, and Bloody Mary’s at finish. Nice race!

Well-organized, small-town race. The medal was huge and the long sleeve technical shirt was nice. The food at the finish was phenomenal (huge selection and variety). The downhill start followed by flat course helped me finish strong with a good finish time despite the fact I recently found out I’m anemic. Volunteers at aid stations were good. Zero complaints.

The vast majority of the race was on greenways, which is fine, but since I run all the time at home on greenways, I didn’t find the course too terribly unique. Being an out and back course, the downhill at the start was great, but running uphill at the finish was not fun. The race was well-organized but this year was the last year for the race director. Hearing Bart Yasso and Jeff Galloway speak at the pasta lunch was great. The shirt and medal are seriously my favorites from any of the around 50 races I’ve run. Post-race showers at the nearby hotel fitness center was a nice perk since I had to check out of my hotel before I finished running.

The course began at Lucky Peak State Park and went through a canyon for the first few miles along the river. We were on greenways for a large portion of the race and the course was flat and pretty scenic. There were plenty of volunteer stations but not many spectators. At packet pickup we got our bibs and a cute potato-shaped pin that says Idaho on it. We got our shirts and medals after the race; both were cute and went along with the potato theme. There was also a potato bar at the finish with several toppings to choose from. There were bounce houses for kids at the finish area. The weather was perfect by my standards although it was breezy at the park and through the canyon. This was state number 42 for me!

This race was well-organized from start to finish. Packet pickup was quick and easy and included a technical shirt for half marathoners. The race was on-time and the course went through the small town of Huntington. The parts along the river were the most scenic and my favorite. Crowd support was decent considering the size of the area. One of the most fun parts of the race was finishing on the stadium and being handed a football to finish with (and keep). The medal was nice but a bit on the small side. Food at the finish was hot dogs, hamburgers, potato chips, chocolate milk, cookies, bananas, and water.
