The race is organized well: smooth bib and swag pickup, the race started right on time, there are lots of volunteers handing out water and providing directions. Much of the course runs along the coast which provided nice views and some cooler air. Lots of water and snacks at the finish line and free photos a couple of days after the race!

Excellent execution: the race started on time, there were well-stocked water stops, results and photos were provided quickly. The race photos are included at no extra cost! Tons of great snacks after the race. The course has some small rolling hills and a few big ones but overall it’s not too bad. Nice crowds in downtown Rockport.

Impeccable race execution as always:
– plenty of swag for all registered runners
– the race started exactly at 0900 as scheduled
– the course was clearly marked with volunteers at the turns
– well-supplied water stops
– tons of food at the finish line including bananas (whole ones, not cut up!), donuts, cookies, chicken sliders
Pretty course, particularly along Ocean Ave. near Ladys Cove. There were a few hills but they weren’t too bad. The course passes by the start/finish line at about the 4.6 mile mark, so spectators get to see runners at the start, finish, and this midpoint. There were lots of people cheering as we passed by.
The only change I would make is to certify the course to make sure we’re getting the full distance. My watch came up about a tenth of a mile short.

I’ve run this race many times. It’s a good event, when it takes place. Unfortunately, weather conditions meant the race couldn’t proceed as planned this year. This is understandable. What isn’t so understandable is the ensuing poor communication. On February 25, the race director promised to follow up soon: “I will have an update late next week when I have had a chance to speak with folks in person.” Well over two weeks later, there has been zero additional commination. Again, it’s understandable that February/March weather in Massachusetts can cause problems. The lack of communication is the deal breaker for me.

I would love to see the return of a longer option (25K) that starts and ends at the same place.

The 2024 Cape Cod Half Marathon was a well-organized event. With over 1000 runners, it still had a small race feel but also nice perks that you find at larger races such as multiple timing segments. The course had pretty ocean views (and some strong wind at times!) My only complaint involves the livestreaming of the event. The organizers livestreamed the finish line on YouTube. I was hoping to watch this video after the race, but YouTube removed the video after a copyright complaint from SME.
