This was a very hilly race but I still managed a PR. The scenery was beautiful and made a great distraction from the hills. There were plenty of aid stations and each mile was clearly marked, I will say that not every aid station had a bathroom, so plan accordingly if you typically have to go during your run. The race shirt may be one of my favorites, it’s a nice half zip pull over that I plan to wear all the time. Over all a great race I would recommend this to anyone looking for a beautiful run.

Expo was great. Crowd support great. Bathroom and water every mile. The entire city gets into it, business have signs outside their shops, billboards are aimed at runners. Awesome race overall but don’t underestimate those hills.

Nice and flat! I finally bagged a sub 4! The race offered several pace groups if you’re looking to hit a certain time. The expo was huge I could have spent an entire afternoon there. The swag was awesome too not only do you get the standard t-shirt and finisher medal but I was also surprised with a finisher t-shirt and a really nice beer mug.

This was a great race with a ton of support through the entire thing. This was my 5 marathon and I was really hoping for a PR, but having stopped at the first line of port a potties I found (which I didn’t realize was still about a half a mile from the start line) left me sprinting to the start line and stuck in the wrong corral. I spent the first half of my race over doing it trying to catch up to my pace group and completely burnt out at mile 20. Now if this race wasn’t so beautiful and just all around awesome I would have been more bummed about adding 30 minutes to my overall time. I would highly recommend this race, I think my experience is not the norm for most who run it. The hills are minimal and I feel like I saw more of DC running this than I did the 2 days I spent walking around with my family. The expo was great with a ton of booths and I even got to meet one of my personal hero’s Kathrine Switzer.
