The race was moved a month ahead to January instead of February. This is probably why the trails were in the best condition of the 4 times I’ve run this race. The course was also slightly different as they needed to avoid a part of the trail that was being worked on.
The hooded sweatshirt was great as always.
The medal featured a beautiful stained-glass effect.

I’ve reviewed this race before, so I’ll just add that the trails were very muddy and slick this year. The middle section of 3-4 miles was so slick as to be almost unrunnable. I’m sure the front of the pack didn’t have as much trouble, but by the time the middle and back of the pack runners got there, it was slip-city. Everything else was excellent, from communications from the director to parking to the awesome hoodie.

This trail race normally has water crossings at miles 4.8 and 8.2 with the weather prior to race determining how deep the water is. This year it was too deep to safely cross, so the course was altered to avoid the river. Even without the water crossing, this was a tough course. Trivium Racing had great communication regarding every aspect of the race in the week or two before the race. This race is also the first of a series of 6 races where the medals all connect to form a mega medal.

This trail race has water crossings at miles 4.8 and 8.2 with the weather prior to race determining how deep the water is. This year it was about knee deep but I understand it has been almost waist deep in the past. Trivium Racing had great communication regarding every aspect of the race in the week or two before the race. This race is also the first of a series of 7 races where the medals all connect to form a mega medal.
