Before you decide to sign up for this lottery, make sure you check out the cut offs and elevation profile. This race does not mess around. Cut offs are tight and this is truly for the seasoned runner who is ready for a challenge. Unless you are a mid packer and can be around other runners who may have done the race before, I highly suggest talking to others about how to follow the course as they were not as well marked as hoped.
Aid stations were awesome, well stocked and people were cool. This race is definitely for the trail hares and not for the turtles.

Other than where the finish/start is, there is zero shade in this race. Be ready for heat and a lot of dust. The evening start was great as this is when you should get most of your miles in as the sun is unforgiving during the day. Highly recommend taking a power nap before race start.

Race was well stocked with ice, water, food, etc.

Race is advertised as flat. It’s more like false flats and rolling hills. Nothing too technical but there is elevation involved after multiple loops.

I also recommend staying at the Geneseo Inn. It’s not cheap but with how close it is to the race you can’t beat the convenience of a place and private toilet to use that’s only a few footsteps away. Only porta potties for the race.

I participated in this race last year at the race course and signed up again this year for the same course but had to switch as a virtual runner due to other personal commitments. They made the switch so easy – no extra cost, no drama and given th same swag. Their responsiveness was also pretty awesome. I highly recommend for those running there or virtually.
