You found them! The classic Mt. Hood trail races that end up on everyone’s bucket list at some point. The races occur just south of Mt. Hood, starting and finishing at the Historic Clackamas Ranger Station and includes beautiful and runnable trails, views, and the best finish-line vibe for you and your friends and family.
The heavily-shaded 50-mile course is an out and back run almost entirely on the Pacific Crest Trail. This year we are shaking things up by flipping the route, sending runners to the southern part of the course first and finishing with the north side. The 50K is also on the PCT but you get to run around Timothy Lake as well. The 25K course involves the Headwaters and Old 1916 Trail before going around Timothy Lake. The trails are generally soft, although there are some technical sections with rocks and roots. All races start and finish at the Historic Clackamas Ranger Station.
50M – Saturday
50K & 25K – Sunday
Capacity: 50-mile=150, 50K=150, 25K=250
None of the races are lotteries. All open at the same time and will fill rapidly. Waitlists for each distance are activated when a race sells out.

Before you decide to sign up for this lottery, make sure you check out the cut offs and elevation profile. This race does not mess around. Cut offs are tight and this is truly for the seasoned runner who is ready for a challenge. Unless you are a mid packer and can be around other runners who may have done the race before, I highly suggest talking to others about how to follow the course as they were not as well marked as hoped.
Aid stations were awesome, well stocked and people were cool. This race is definitely for the trail hares and not for the turtles.
Great out and backs on PCT
Again another Go Beyond Racing production. Good aid stations with plenty of good vibes and appreciated the cold water sponge baths on an unusual hot day. Nice views of Wy'east. … MORE

This course started at the historic Clackamas Lake Ranger Station, went downhill to Timothy Lake, went around the east side of the lake, then went up on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). At the turnaround, we ran back on the PCT, then around the other side of Timothy Lake. The trail was relatively soft and smooth in most places and the hills were mostly gradual. I would say it would be a good 50K for beginners. Unfortunately, Mt. Hood was covered in clouds this year, so I wasn’t able to get any pictures from the PCT. There were no finisher medals, but we did get a glass with the Mt. Hood 50 logo on it at the finish. Shirts could be purchased separately from the race registration.
