In the past this race race had it all. Post race party of all parties, food that never ran out even for the back of the packers, music that went on after the finish line closed, dozens of photographers on course, and a course that snaked through many neighborhoods…NOT THIS YEAR!!! Not sure if new race director or not but I finished right at 5 hours and the food was gone and the only thing at finishline was a bottle of water and a beer. No food not bananas or pretzels or anything… pictures I had about 7 of them taken at 4 locations max 1 at start 2 at finish and one on course. The course from just past 10 mile to Mile 24 was a giant out and backlooping one neighborhood as a turn around. All this still at the same 100.00+ expense depending on when you signed up. We have run this race 5-7 times….made for great holiday travel race, not any more. Crazy expensive that didn’t deliver on past reviews. One good point for us out of towners was the ability to get your bib mailed to you and skip the expo…not worth the 100.00+ race entry though.

give me this race cause it’s one of the fastest growing Kansas city races. Give me this race cause the swag that comes with it (gloves, t-shirts, cinch sack, free photos). give me this race as a great first challenge to kick of the year, the course isn’t easy but if you have been training you’ll weather the storm. Give me this race cause its clear the race director cares for its participants (bathrooms at each aid station, shuttle buses from parking areas, an indoor area to meet up in before going to the start line, and he has his community on board as they come out to watch)! This race is one of the first highly attended Half Marathons of the year here in Kansas City, it screams springtime racing season is here! Every year it just gets better and better. GIVE ME LIBERTY, #whythehillnot
