For 12 years, those heroes were the driving force behind amazing and challenging Run4Troops race weekends in Dubuque, Iowa. Although Run4Troops has retired, the work will never be done. We encourage everyone to continue supporting and honoring local veterans in any way possible. To all the racers, volunteers, and sponsors – THANK YOU. Thanks for your support and your continued efforts to honor our country’s heroes.”

More than just a marathon. Run4Troops is about a cause much greater than ourselves. The event attracts racers from all across the country to generate awareness for the men and women in uniform, raising thousands of dollars for local military while we’re at it.
Explore Iowa’s beauty with this out-and-back Course marathon that spans along the Upper Midwest’s most scenic all-season trail from Dyersville to Dubuque, IA. From start to finish, you’ll be showered with support and hospitality from some of the friendliest Midwesterners this side of the Mississippi.
Whether you’re an elite runner looking to qualify for Boston or just getting off the couch to do your first 5k as a part of a relay team, there’s something for everyone. This out-and-back course on the historic Heritage Trail features a flat terrain, plenty of shade and a crushed limestone surface.
Individual races include the Boston-qualifier marathon and, new for 2019, a half marathon. Relay teams may enter male, female or co-ed categories with 2-12 members (limit 150 relay teams).

With a 7:15 start it warmed up pretty quickly with full sun. The canopy of trees on the trail helped, but the heat still got to me. I carried a bottle and never had any lack of water issues, and it was always ice cold.
The trail was in great shape and easy on the body.
Great medal and tank tops. Bag check a breeze. Finish area had everything, even beer, but in addition to your wristband you had to have your paper raffle ticket or no beer. Seriously, fix that.
I’d say proceed with caution unless they move the date or start the race sooner (the sun is up by 5:00 AM). The course, it is gorgeous!
