Since 1979, the Crescent City Classic 10K has been the New Orleans and Gulf South’s premier 10k road race, and one of the oldest 10k races in the nation.
The race, which takes place every year on the Saturday before Easter Sunday, is produced locally by the Crescent City Classic Foundation, a not-for-profit 5013c entity. People of all physical abilities participate, including world-class runners, joggers, walkers, wheelchair athletes, kids in strollers, and even those with rolling beer coolers. For 40+ years, it has combined world class competition, amateur participation and great fun for all participants.
The events surrounding the Crescent City Classic make for a jam-packed Easter weekend. The fun includes a two-day Health & Fitness Expo, free and open to the public. Many runners sign up simply to attend the post-race party hosted by Michelob Ultra, complete with live music from local bands and world-famous New Orleans cuisine!
This Easter Weekend Tradition is now, along with Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest, one of New Orleans signature events.
Each year, over 20,000 people gather in Downtown New Orleans for an event that attracts everyone from international Elite Athletes to those who walk the entire route carrying cocktails or wearing bunny suits. Young, old, fit and not so, the Crescent City Classic is the most fun you can have over 6.2 miles!
But there’s a serious side to the Classic as well. Every year, the “Run for It” Program sets out to raise $1 million to support local charity partners. No matter who crosses the finish line first, everyone wins!

Flat and fast. Can be warm and humid, but I lucked out with the weather. Well organized, and the course passes through many wonderful NOLA sights. Great crowd support! I typically do not keep race medals, but this one is beautiful and unique, designed by a local artist, so it was a keeper. The added challenge to try to achieve top 300 to earn a special edition poster was also appealing and motivating for me, and unique to this race.
Had a ball!

The race was well organized from start to finish. Packet pickup was easy and they had plenty of vendors. Loved the fact there was shuttle service to the race. This was the first race I participated in where there was a porta potty and water at every mile which was nice. The after party was New Orleans style fun the band was amazing! The route was nice and flat

This was my second year running this race and I enjoyed it just as much as I did last year and I’ll be returning next year! The atmosphere and the energy of the entire event is what makes it fun. Everyone comes out regardless of their run ability. The scenery is great especially if you love historical New Orleans, the after race party is GREAT! this race has so many people in attendance!

This was my first and won’t be my last! I loved this race, the energy was high, everyone was so positive and happy in true New Orleans fashion. The course wasn’t bad, they also provided transportation to and from the start. The finisher party was AMAZING!! the food was sooooo good, and it was so many people. It felt like I was at a festival instead of a race finisher party. I really enjoyed this race. My time could’ve been faster, but my 13 year old came with me and she’s not a runner, however, that’s also the beauty of this race, it’s for all stages of fitness.
Run in NOLA

This race has been around for a long time. There were 8000+ participants in 2022-lots of walkers. Scenic course, shady, the temperatures were moderate but beware of NOLA humidity. Started at the SuperDome, finished in NOLA City Park. Nice post-race festival. It is a point-to-point race. Makes for a fun weekend as NOLA as lots to see and do.

Unlimited beer at the expo, unlimited beer at the after party, lots of costumes (I ran by Prince) and lots of dranks on the route (shots, beer, mimosas, etc). Well organized and lots of supporters/cheering on the route. It was the most fun I’ve ever had at a race, I mean, it’s NOLA. The medal was kinda “meh” but all is forgiven when you have so much fun!
One of the best 10ks around
