It was a super fun race, great views, lots of elevation and down hills. first time running the 15k here. Did the 10k previously but ready to do the half marathon next year! Only thing I would add is a clearer turn markers at some parts of the trail. But plenty of snacks at the stations and after the race, don’t wait book the next one now 😀

The race organizers make this race fun! The trail is super difficult but with incredible scenery of the iconic Vasquez Rocks. They go all out with their designs for the medals, T shirts and super cool goodie bad that fits with the “other worldly” theme of the race. The race organizers and volunteers put in a lot of effort to ensure a fun, safe and unforgettable experience for the participants!

kudos to all the volunteers who were showing up hours before the crack of dawn to get everything going! excellent and consistent communication via email regarding race (including date changes due to the heat wave). I loved the views on the 10k, though it is two loops of the 5k (which can feel more harrowing after the first loop, atleast for me). literally all of the 10k starters got lost at the very beginning, trail was probably well marked but we didn’t think to look for ribbons at the very beginning. the start/end being well marked might have helped. Highly recommend downloading the gpx to your watch if you can as it does at least tell you when you’re off track!

I’m running through dirt, rocks, creeks, roots, and bushes while staring at breathtaking scenery. I would love to finish this race again and beat my previous performance.
