You don’t have to wear a costume but it’s more fun to dress up! Everyone is having fun and the 5k ends at “the house” from the movie, or you can run back downtown for the 10k. I usually walk 5k with friends then run back so it’s a decent workout. Ovaltine and other goodies at the finish, and nice medals depiction a different theme is chosen each year. Friends and I have done it every year since it started, and they come from Arizona and Florida to join us!

Great medal, good shirts but promised long sleeved and got short sleeved. Lots of port a potties but not much music. Disappointing finish line and no champagne as promised. Management change this year could account for that. No expo but packet pickup was in the stands of the race track so good photo ops

very well organized, good expo and easy packet pickup. Nice purple tech shirts! Very nice course, through lovely neighborhood then through a park and over the river a couple of times. Well organized finish and decent food. Quick results and easy age group award pick up. Well staffed, friendly and fun. Definitely will do it again.

very limited expo, very few vendors. Course was open to every Saturday morning exerciser in Chicago and some got very rude about the race. The only water stop was about 1/2 mile from the start, and confusion about where to go on the course due to few course marshals. Some of the food was gone when we finished, so no chocolate! positives: nice jacket, wine glass, calendar, and good race atmosphere, just lousy organization.
