Why the Martians? Click here for the illustrated story. Earth marathons have strange themes, with your flying pigs and your convoluted, NASA-calculated encounter projections. Our finest Martian philosophers and theologians are working tirelessly to compose our own (as you call it) “trash talk”, which we will shower upon you most mercilessly once our planet’s runners prove victorious in winning all the races and snagging all the prizes.
We also noticed the course map is now on your website. Using the MSA’s (Martian Space Administration) spatial-relationship viewer, we see your course is free of dust and rock, perhaps a solid surface. It could be quite fast … interesting. Time will tell who ends up kicking whose …
The marathon course is a Boston Qualifier. All the Martian courses are wide, traffic free, beautiful and lightly rolling. The 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon all leave and return to the Start/Finish via the same route.
Note: There is a 6 1/2 hour time limit for the Marathon.
The only issue is gravity, which we are in process of correcting. Scientists from both Mars and Earth are working together on a diversionary, planetary, orbital plan that should reduce gravitational pull for up to 4 hours on race day. This displaced gravity will be transported by traditional warp methods to be distributed evenly over all other spring marathon dates.

While they have a sizable half marathon and large 5k/10k, the start of each race was staged so that the marathoners mostly had the race course to themselves. I really appreciate that. Marathon is very small, but the course was well protected with cops at intersections on major streets, and very dedicated volunteers in the quieter neighborhoods. Volunteers were fantastic and the water stops were well stocked and enthusiastically staffed. If you are looking for ‘frills’, this is not the race for you. Very basic race pick up, as well as start and finish, snacks, etc. But for me it was perfect.

This was a decent race that was fun but small. The expo was fun with the Martian theme. The weather was chilly but tolerable on race day. The course was good! The run went through nice neighborhoods. The Ford Historic District was awesome during the run! Plenty of aid stations on the course. We ate at Ford’s Garage while there and that was really good! If travelling to the area, do your research to find the best places to stay. I don’t really have anything else to say but trying to get this to accept what I have written. I have no idea why there was a Martian theme.

The theme of this race made it so fun! There were aliens everywhere, including the huge expo beforehand. This was my first larger race (participant-wise) so I was impressed with how well organized everything was for there being so many people. They had a LOT of porto potties in the parking lot right by the race start too which I’m always thankful for.
The starting lineup was pretty crowded and I had to almost walk-jog the first quarter mile because there were so many people. After it thinned out it was much more breathable. There wasn’t a lot to look at along the course unless you passed by people outside their houses cheering you on. The last couple miles of the half marathon was nice because it went through a park. The course is flat overall so that was a relief since at the time I was trying for under two hours. I made my goal thanks to the awesome pacers that were on the course!
The medal was a giant alien head which is the coolest thing hanging in my room. The race shirt was cool, but didn’t end up fitting me because I got a men’s size on accident. I would definitely run this race again, but probably only the half again since there wasn’t a whole lot of scenery to look at!

This is one of the most fun races I’ve ever participated in. It’s an out and back course mostly on Hines Drive in Dearborn. The weather was COLD and it was snowing the day of the race. Funny. Last year it was warm enough for short sleeves! I ran the 26K which was made up of a 5K followed by a quick return to the start to run the half marathon. Well actually at my 5K pace I had to stand around in the cold waiting for the start of the half marathon.
There are plenty of aid stations. There is plenty of crowd support and a very good pace team. The expo was awesome and there were good deals at the Running Fit booth.

Well organized finish and decent food. Quick results and easy age group award pick up. Well staffed, friendly and fun. Definitely will do it again.
