I never made it to the finish line. It took me over 8 hours to get to Seattle and back which is an hour drive away to pick up my race number Friday night. The next morning as I exited to park the car I had well over an hour to get to the start. 45 minutes later I was finally getting to the end of the exit ramp, still hadn’t parked the car and the start was 2 miles away. The start of the race and finish line are 2 miles apart. We were parking the car near Century Field/Safeco….a place that regularly handles large amount of people but this morning no one was out helping and it showed. People were getting out of their cars and running to try and get to the start line.

The course was nice though now wide in some parts and the road wasn’t always in the best of shape. There was little to no shade through most of the race so if you are from a northern state it was very warm even in the high 50s.

The rolling hills weren’t too challenging and the course was enjoyable. There were lots of aid stations and loved stopping at mile 10 for the small sip of wine. One of the best exit shoots I’ve been through. You get your medal and then are handed a bag of all your after race goodies…no stopping 10 times for different snacks. The after party wine festival was great. Sit and relax under the trees while you eat your snacks and sip on wine, beer or whatever beverage you want.

I just can’t seem to get the timing right to have a good race if it isn’t first thing in the morning. It was a fairly easy out and back course. The packet pickup went very smooth but no one seemed to know which way we were running from the start line. The start/finish along with parking were great. There wasn’t much of an after race shoot but the burrito was nice and you got one free drink.

This is a great race and there are so many people out cheering you on. It’s difficult at times with the hills but some of the views are exceptional. I always love to come over one hill and see the two stadiums and Seattle skyline. It does finish after a hill so be prepared. Just when you know you are getting close you turn a corner and look at a downhill and then uphill before a few short turns to the finish line. Ugh.

You are entertained almost the entire race with scenery and options for character pictures. It’s a very early start time, but I like getting the race done before it gets too hot. There are plenty of aid/water stations and lots of cheering people. The path gets narrow at times. I love the race and the Disney medals are some of the best I’ve received.

The scenery was nice, and it was a beautiful but warm day. If you are coming from a northern state keep this in mind because it affects the race. I enjoyed the race and of course went to PF Chang’s (race sponsor) after for some of their awesome food. The medal is average.
