Normally the course is beautiful but because of the rain, changes had to be made. It mentally messed with my head running and seeing all the runners ahead of me passing by on the other side of the sidewalk – twice! I know we couldn’t go through Sycamore Grove but I would have preferred a different course that didn’t have us go down a road and go back up that road – a real loop would have been preferred which was the consensus with the other 3 runners I ran with. Some parts of the course were very muddy which was unfortunate but I know it was nothing the event could have prevented.

The afterparty was even better than last year! Drinks were plentiful, snacks and water were easy to find, porta-potty’s were clean, and the music was lively! Loved the multi-use medal!

This is the 4th time I’ve run this race and unfortunately, they had to modify the course due to the trail damage from recent storms. Despite a couple of boring out and backs, we still got to run through scenic Holdener with views of vineyards and snow-capped hills along the route. I love that so many locals run this race year after year with lots of community support. The best part is the post-run festival with free tastings from top-notch local wineries and breweries. Areas for improvement: No gels at mile 8 aid station, more snacks at the finish would’ve been nice, and the course seemed to be just shy of 13.1 miles.

The course is great! Love running through sycamore then up to holdner park. Lots of cute inspiration signs along the way. I’ve run this race a number of times. For the price of this race it was definitely a let down at the finish with a small/basic medal and no commemorative wine glass. It’s listed a one of the perks but I never saw any. It was also pretty chaotic once you crossed the finish. To first find a medal then hunt down a banana and maybe a snack somewhere.

My husband and I registered to run this race in 2020 and after 2 years it happened!! We live in town and had run portions of the course before but not in it’s entirety. It’s a beautiful route and so great to run a closed course. There are some challenging hills but that makes the downhill even better 🙂 We’ve already signed up for 2023!

Although the rolling hills make this a challenging run, the views from the course are stunning. From downtown through Sycamore Grove and up, up , up over Holdner Park the vineyards offer scenery over many miles. The crowds were enthusiastic keeping runners motivated and energized from start to finish. Hands down my most favorite half marathon!

Livermore half marathon is a great race, and right in our backyard! The scenery is beautiful! There are some decent hills between miles 7-9.5, but you’re then rewarded with a downhill and pretty flat finish! This is my 3rd Livermore half and I’ve already signed up for next year!

My only criticisms this year were: (1) no wine glass like in years past and (2) you couldn’t sort the pictures by your bib number. However, the pictures were free so that was a bonus!

Can’t wait to come back next year and go for a PR!

Organization for this event was AMAZING! Everything went off flawlessly. I’ve never ran a half marathon before but I will definitely do it again. The assortment of drinks afterwards was very refreshing. Would like if there were some more snacks passed out. Gel packs, electrolytes and water were passed out on the run.

This was my first ever half-marathon race and I couldn’t ask for more.
The course is mostly flat with a few hills after 7 miles. You don’t really need to train for the hills but it’s good to have a few hill repeats under your belt as part of the training. The middle section of the course is beautiful. The post-race party and music concert was a fun family event.
Highly recommended if you are planning to run half marathons around SF bay area.

Loved the livermore valley half marathon! This is only the second half I’ve done, but the course was very approachable, the scenery was beautiful, and there was so much support from the community. I did feel that the website used to register and make changes was a little confusing (i paid to pick up my bib the morning of but when I told them my schedule freed up and I could come earlier, they wouldn’t give me a refund) – it wasn’t clear that there was an option to mail our bibs to us, and the course and swag given to us after didn’t really fit the price of the race (heard a couple of racers asking for a wine glass that was promised when registering). Anyway i just do it for the running, and I’d highly recommend this course to beginner runners!

This is the third time I’ve run Livermore, and it’s still my favorite course. Beautiful scenery, just enough course difficulty, and great post-race festivities. Packet pickup at a local beer garden was a little crowded this year, but that’s a minor quibble. This year, I got to run it with my daughter, which made it more special. We both PR’d.
