I have done this race every year since it’s inception and love it. It is small enough that you don’t feel overwhelmed by the amount of people and you get to drink wine at the end. The scenery is also a plus and the coarse is fairly easy with a few medium size hills.

The hype before is awesome, music blaring and someone shouting motivational words to everyone really gets you ready. The course unfortunately isn’t much because the scenery doesn’t start to begin until further out in the half marathon course. You start downtown and turn back around at the end of Arroyo Road not a whole lot of scenery. However the Kaiser employees and residents of the neighborhood are cheering you on with signs which is awesome. The race always leaves me with wanting more. I wish they did a 10k. The swag is always pretty good, they do a good job with the medals and shirts. Was happy they brought back Men’s and Women’s shirts this year. Overall I give the event 4/5 stars.

The course is amazing and beautiful too through the vineyards. The bottle opener medal was my favorite.

This course is amazing and really should be part of the Wine Country Race series. That is how nice and scenic the Livermore course is. You also can’t go wrong with the All you can drink Beer and Wine at the end of the race. The shirts and medals were great too. I just can’t rave enough about my hometown Livermore Half Marathon.

This was my fifth 5K, and I had a great time running it! The course was out-and-back and pretty flat. There was quite a bit of congestion at the starting line, and it took a good quarter-mile to get out of the crush of people — I think waves might have been helpful for this.

Otherwise, I had an easy time getting my packet, and the booths after the race were great! Finishers got a wine glass (in addition to the typical medal & t-shirt) and there was a selection of wineries & breweries offering up beer & wine to finishers. Overall, I would definitely do it again (especially since I have family pretty much on the course, which makes it a breeze for me transportation-wise)!

The Livermore half marathon is definitely a race to put on your bucket. The race starts of beautiful downtown Livermore or runs out to some of this County parks and alongside Wente Vineyards. Can’t ask for more beautiful race, the course is very easy only a few Hills to climb. Definitely my favorite event of the year

The expo and race in in Downtown Livermore with many restaurants so bring your family and make it a nice outing. Weather in March in this area can be unpredictable so hard to know what to expect in advance. First year I ran it I wore short and short sleeve too. This year I wore pants, long sleeve top, ear warmer and gloves! There are some undulating hills so I suggest some hill train. The hills come after mile 8. The post race wine and beer is awesome. I didn’t take advantage of it but my friends did. Overall, very well organized, fun, well supported race.

The course is absolutely breathtaking! Love the views and funny banners displayed by locals! The wine tasting at the end is a cherry on top once you have a designated driver with you! 😀👍 Look forward to 2019 race!

I’ve run the Livermore Half three times now. This year the race was organized by a new group. The EXPO was laid out in a weird way. The date was too early for the location. It was colder and not as green as it will be 3 weeks later. They also made a significant change to the route just a week before the race. It was nice that it was close and that I paid early enough to feel like I still got my money’s worth, but I was disappointed after two great experiences.

This is a beautiful course with lots of scenery to distract yourself with when the miles seem long. Some hills about half way in add some challenge, but overall this is a very manageable course.
In past years this race has been in late March – making it a great New Years Resolution half – but the early March date still worked out even though it was very cold. This was my 3rd time running this race, and the adjustments made to the course made for a smoother run. Keep in mind miles 4-6 are through Sycamore Grove, which can get a little crowded with so many runners on a narrow path. The scenery and peacefulness of Sycamore Grove are a nice tradeoff though.
I would highly recommend this race. It’s a great first-timer half marathon too.
