I ran the marathon and overall found it to be a fairly average experience.
Packet pickup and parking at the start were very easy and well organized. I appreciated the early 6:30 a.m. start, especially given how extremely humid the conditions were. At the start, humidity was around 98% with heavy fog. The course itself was very flat and fast—definitely a PR-worthy route if the weather had been cooler.
As the race went on, temperatures climbed into the 70s and the sun became intense. There was a breeze for much of the race, which helped, but whenever it died down the heat became overwhelming. Aid stations were frequent and consistently stocked with water and Gatorade, and GU gels were offered later on. That said, it would have been nice to see extras like ice or cooling wipes, especially given the conditions.
At the finish, I was underwhelmed by the post-race food: a banana, a very small slice of pizza, and a cookie. Two free drinks were included, but since I don’t drink alcohol, that perk didn’t add much value for me. On the positive side, the medal was really nice—a clamshell design that opened up—and we also received a quality beach towel and a long-sleeved shirt, both of which I liked.
While the race was well organized, it didn’t stand out as anything special, and I probably wouldn’t choose to do it again.

I had signed up last year but deferred because there were no age group awards for the first year and I was coming off an injury. Still no age group or any awards for 2026 but I’d paid so I decided to run it. This year there was no same day packet pickup, so I had to drive 65 miles the day before to get my bib. I decided to volunteer and worked packet pickup. It was a mess. The race director didn’t even attend the race weekend!
The race itself was mostly on the boardwalk – very flat but no shade. It was 75 degrees and there were only 3 water stops. The course was 0.35 miles short and the only water at the end were in tiny cups, no food or anything else. The medal was nice, but the shirt was cheap. I paid $135 for this. So, I’d say forget this race if they do it again.

This race was so well organized and supported. I can truly see why it is called “America’s friendliest”. From registration to the finish line party every aspect was flawless. Watching the podcasts prior to the race with the race director was very helpful to understand what to expect of the course and support.

I really enjoyed the expo, the swag was great, however my only negative was that the shirts were gender neutral so even the XS was too big for me. I loved the hat, blanket and medal which I received after the race. The course was as expected, some small uphill’s, one longer uphill and some downhills, including a huge downhill finish. The post-race party was great, there were so many options to take pictures, ring the PR bell (which I did!) and eat food and drink. Wish there were some vegan options, but I am in the minority. The weather was perfect which helped secure my PR!

This was my 7th marathon and I was hoping for a PR as the elevation was a downhill the entire way. Unfortunately it didn’t feel like a downhill, it felt like a flat course. That was ok, but a little disappointing. I started with the first group and drove to the start instead of taking the optional train ride. This was a good decision because it got really hot by the end and starting early was better. The course winds down the mounting next to the river which was beautiful. The course is in packed gravel which was fine until near the end where it was a lot more sandy and harder to run on. There were plenty of water drops and gels offered but the bathrooms were very scarce. Only 3 bathroom opportunities after the start was not ideal. The medal and shirt were very nice. Jim Thorpe is a quaint town and very very busy, it was hard to park anywhere but walking around there were nice shops and restaurants.

Everything about this race went smoothly. The packet pickup was easy peasy, the swag was basic – a t shirt and mug or belt, and getting to the start from our hotel was simple. Nice small race with lots of water stops, including gels and granola bars. Volunteers were amazing and friendly. I got a PR because the course was flat. The only negative about the race was the wind. After mile 11 you get hit with a headwind for the next 10 miles. Would do this again for sure !

This was a beautiful race. The scenery, the race planning and the execution went way beyond my expectations. It was so easy to get to the start the morning of the race I stayed in a hotel about a five minute walk away. Everything was so close by from the shops to the packet pick up to the finish line. It was very very easy to navigate. The race itself started at 7 AM which was great like early starts, the weather was very nice cool and cloudy, perfect marathon conditions. The course was very flat. It ran across the boardwalk, onto some gravel areas in a forest type setting, but nothing dangerous at all to worry about on your footing. The water stations were very often and , the volunteers were amazing. The only downside that I can speak of is there wasn’t much swag the T-shirt was nice the metal was nice but that’s really all you got that wasn’t after potty but I don’t drink so I wasn’t really interested in the three free beers that you get; food was OK I’m a vegan, so there wasn’t much choice for me, but everyone else seem to be enjoying it. I would definitely do this race again it’s not too far from where I live and overall had a great experience.
