Welcome to the Wy’east Wonder, the most wonderful race on Mt. Hood! This 50-miler and 50K is possibly our most scenic race yet and will introduce you to trails you’ll want to return to again and again.
The net downhill, point-to-point race is run mostly on two ridges around Wy’east; Gunsight Ridge and Surveyor’s Ridge. You will have so many views of Wy’east (the Multnomah Tribe word for Mt. Hood) as you make your way from her southern side around to the east, that you may actually get tired of looking at it. We promise we’ll take your breath away, and it won’t be from only running. The 50M route has 7000′ of elevation gain/10000′ of loss. The 50K has 4000 of gain/7000′ of loss. Both have a big descent to the finish.
You’ll run from Mt. Hood’s south side, all the way around to her northeastern shoulder, into the orchards of the Hood River Valley. It’s a stunning course, with a great post-race hangout spot in Parkdale with giant burritos and cold beverages, and yet more mountain views.
50K Relay
Get your bestie, or your fastie, and form a 2-person team for the 50K Relay. Runner #1 covers the first 18 miles of the course and hands off at the Aquaduct aid station to runner #2 who takes it in to the finish line 12.6 miles away. All teams compete in the Relay category regardless of gender makeup. The captain will register the team and pay for both entries and then invite their teammate to sign up. THIS IS GOING TO BE FUN!

Before the race you park in Parkdale and take a shuttle to the start. Be on time! They leave promptly.
Overall the trail was pretty smooth except the last ~2miles of steep downhill that had lots of loose gravel and difficult footing
There is a long climb the first 10miles or so but from there it is rolling.
In 2025 the weather was clear and views of Mt Hood and the area were amazing. The trail was well marked and easy to follow. The aid stations were well stocked and had great volunteers
After finishing they shuttle you back to Parkdale where they had food, drinks, beer and music
There is no real schwag unless you buy it separately. You get a glass as a finisher award
Wy’east wonder says it all
Inaugural events for 50k and 50 miles from Go Beyond Racing starting at Bennet Park Snow Pass near Mt Hood Meadows and up to Gunsite Ridge and Surveyors Ridge trails … MORE
Inaugural events for 50k and 50 miles from Go Beyond Racing starting at Bennet Park Snow Pass near Mt Hood Meadows and up to Gunsite Ridge and Surveyors Ridge trails heading north to finish in Parkdale. All along the course you are provided wonderful views of the southeast and east sides of the Wy’east (Mt. Hood) along ridge lines. 50 k/50mile course follow the same 20 miles before the 50mile course loops east for an extra 20miles only to rejoin the 50k course for the last 10 miles. The first 10 miles of the course is slightly up hill with highest elevation point around 6000ft. From there the remaining 20 miles of the 50k course is net downhill with the last 2.5mile section diving down the oak ridge trail loosing over 2000ft of elevation in the process to the finish line. The elevation profile of 3700ft of gain and 6600 ft of loss for the 50k course on paper looks runnable and fast but frequent rolling sections on the ridge lines and the steep descent before the finish make it much harder than it would seem. Be careful on last steep decent on tired legs. A number of runners biffed it on the decent including yours truly. Vast majority of course on excellent single track with minimal technical sections. Production value and aid station fare were solid as with any Go Beyond Racing event although the finish line location gave little warning to crew/family when the runner was approaching the finish. Nice pre and post race location in Parkdale to get ready for and relax after the race. Runners were bused up from Parkdale to starting line. Crew access limited to mile 20 aid station. Short shuttle for runners and crew from finish line to post race festivities.
