The Willow is two events in one, all you have to do is decide the distance that takes you out of our comfort zone. Are you going to do the ten-mile or twenty-mile distance? The wide grass and gravel trail will take you to far reaches of the Willow River State Park with a variety of terrains and scenic views that will keep you engaged every step of the way.
Each loop will take you to the far corners of the park to enjoy its many different topographic highlights, forests, grasslands and panoramic views.
Aid stations will have water, Hammer Heed, Hammer Gel, soft drinks (Coca-Cola and Ginger Ale), peanut butter sandwiches, potato chips, cookies, candy and fruit. If you have special dietary requirements, please make sure to make use of your drop bags.
The two aid stations (one on the course and /finish) are staffed by fellow runners, friends and family members. Please make every effort to thank them for their time and efforts!
The first aid station is 5 miles from and the second aid station is just before the point where the 10-milers head to the finish and where the 20-milers head out on loop two.
Willow River State Park is a nearly 3000-acre park located five miles north of Hudson Wisconsin. The centerpiece of the park is the Willow Falls, a powerful cascade into a 200-foot deep gorge. The falls will beg the runners to stop and take photographs or just pause take in its beauty.

The course is hilly, but beautiful. This year was the inaugural event and was so well-organized that I wouldn’t have known it was the first time, without them mentioning it pre-race.
With a field limit of 300 runners, parking was easy, packet pickup only took a minute, and the restroom lines are short. Aid stations were well-stocked with multiple fueling choices (soda, gels, electrolytes, chips, sandwiches, etc). Course was well-marked.
I have no complaints about this race and would do it again.
