Wamego does the Wizard of Oz theme well. The pasta feed at packet pick up was a nice touch. I liked the picture on the medal, but it’s not great quality, nor was the race shirt. But I did enjoy the race, rolling hills and all! Fun photo ops with the Wizard of Oz characters.

I ran this half marathon with a group of ladies; we were on a fit-cation. It was such a fun place to visit, the town is themed around the Wizard of Oz. We visited Toto’s Tacos, the Wicked Witch Winery, and other local establishments.
The race was an out and back, mostly residential areas. The scenery wasn’t particularly great but was fun to see other runners dressed in costumes.

I was pleasantly surprised with this marathon. The organizers put on a very nice pre-race spaghetti feed at the packet pickup, and provided shuttle transportation just a short distance to the start. The course was well marked and had a few groups of enthusiastic spectators despite the rain. There were plenty of aid stations, good selection of hydration and energy gels, and they even provided shuttles for the three block distance from the finish to the parking at the high school. The medals and other bling was also very nice. The only suggestion that I have is that it would have been nice to have porta potties at the start.
