As an Arizona running tradition since 1978, the Whiskey Row Marathon is among the toughest races in the country. Featuring rugged terrain, an altitude in excess of one mile above sea level and, on occasion, severe weather, it’s challenging, fun and offers a number of running routes for runners of all skill and fitness levels, including a half marathon, 10K and a 5K
Come join runners from all over the county in this prestigious event – and show your friends and family that you were “Tough Enough”!
WHY IS THIS RACE SO IMPORTANT?
The James Family Prescott YMCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, community-focused organization. The Whiskey Row Marathon is our largest fund raiser for program scholarships which help families in our community.
Proceeds from this race go directly into the scholarship fund at the James Family Prescott YMCA to assist children and families in financial need to participate in child care, swimming lessons, youth sports and gymnastics classes.
Without your participation and the community support for the WRM Races, our local families in need may not have a chance to make sure that their children flourish, even in times of economic hardship.
At the Y we do not turn participants away for the inability to pay for our programs and we believe that all children have the equal right to learn water safety, Early Learning Objectives, character values and have opportunities for success in the intramural athletics.
Your participation in this race not only promotes your personal health, but also promotes the overall health of the Prescott Community.

The first half is slow uphill…steeper than I thought…but the second half is fast downhill. There was almost no helpful pre-race communication.

The aid stations were awesome, each one had water, Gatorade, and refreshments. The most unique aspect of the race was the course because it had many hills, and the paved roads had dirt. The race could be improved if during the first few miles, there were more cones saying where to go because it was dark at the early start.
