The weather was very wet on race day. There was heavy rain for the first 10 miles followed by intermittent rain toward the finish. The race started at 9am with temperature remaining in the low 60’s throughout.
The out and back course had consistent uphill and downhill intervals around the lake shore. The course was well marked with mostly asphalt surface. The were small section of gravel road along the way. The course had an almost immediate climb at the start, which also provided a nice downhill stretch before the finishing kick.
There were 4 aid station with water and electrolytes that served the runner on both the out and back. The road was not closed for the event. Local drivers were very cautious as they approached the runners during the event on these low traffic rural roads.
Runners had to pay small additional fees for their race shirts and medals at registration. They were nice but typical for smaller races.
I really enjoyed the s energy and would recommend the race to anyone in who has plans to be near Lake Dunbar on race weekend.
